I am officially the mom of two amazing boys and could not be happier.

 
Brock Austin was born on 3/12 at 11:20pm.
Weighing in at 8lbs 13oz.  (He is already up to 9lbs 6oz.)
He is a sweetie pie and really easy so far.

I was having regular contractions from Saturday night on.  Sadly, I still had to be induced following the results of my ultrasound on Monday.  :(  My amniotic fluid was dangerously low.  AFI is scored from 0-22 with 8-18 being normal.  My AFI score was 0.  My OB couldn't find any pockets of fluid, so I had to go directly to the hospital for admission.  I knew that it was fairly serious based on the tone of her voice.  I even asked if we could swing by our house to pick up my laptop. (We had the rest of our labor stuff in the car.)  We only live 2 mins away from the hospital and my OB still said that I had to go to the hospital immediately.  It took all of me to keep from crying at that point. 

I was able to avoid pitocin at least.  This labor was a lot shorter and somewhat easier than the 1st.  My recovery has also been a lot easier. 


In regards to the name, we had two top choices but were waiting to meet him.  I think that in the back of my mind I knew he would be Brock all along based on how he was in utero.  We didn't decide until the following morning though.  (This was mainly due to me completely passing out about 90 mins after delivery and then having to be on oxygen for the next 3 hours.  After coming to, I slept through most of this, while DH cuddled Brock.)


Gavin is doing okay with the new addition.  He's been enjoying the extra Daddy time.  His roughest time is when he wakes up from his nap because I usually get him.  However, I was not supposed to pick him up for a little bit and this threw him for a loop.  He likes to rock Brock's bassinet and is fascinated by his ears.  Haha.
