worring and in need of hugs

So I just got a text from my BF that said he called an ambulance and is in the hospital. I guess he has another kidney stone (his last one was so bad he needed surgery) and I feel so awful. I got up this morning at 5am, and he seemed fine. He was eating breakfast when I left (and of course the snow is horrible) and now I'm stuck at work. I guess somewhere from when I left and got to work he was having really bad pains. Now I'm all worried and just want to get to the ER to be with him :(
Sorry I know it's kind of a rant but I need to do something so I don't just sit and worry

First, try your best to relax. He got himself to the hospital and he's in capable hands right now. So, try not to worry too much (I know, easier said then done) and you'll be able to see him as soon as you can get away from work.

I'm sure he'll be okay. Hugz

Oh sweetie - I would feel the same way! As Hazel said, he is in good hands and i'm sure he will be fine. The best thing you can do is let him know that you will have your phone with you if he needs anything. I know it's frustrating to not be there, but just be patient and he will call with news as soon as he finds out what is going on.

Thanks girls. I've cleaned and reorganized my desk already, and I think I may go make some tea... what a time to have no work to be busy with.

Sorry to hear that!  I'm sure he'll be okay - kidney stones are terribly uncomfortable, but usually don't cause any permanent issues.

Try to take your mind off of things, if work isn't keeping you busy enough to do so - I usually will plan a fake vacation if I need to distract myself.  Type in "Best vacation ever" and one random word (like "orange" or "cloud" or something) and take the first place that comes up in the search as your imaginary destination.  Then go to tripadvisor.com and plan a whole vacation - pick the best hotel in that area, look at flights, price out rental cars on kayak.com, look for activities you'd want to do.  I don't know why, but this little exercise can easily distract me for 2 hours.

Take some deep breaths.  He's in capable hands and he knows you'll be there when/if you can.  *hugs*

Just got an update- he's sitting and getting some fuilds in him, he had an xray just to check for any major damage, and they think he'll be able to be picked up in a few hours. I feel very releieved and I think I'm gonna leave work and get some extra lemon juice for him. *sigh* :)

EEK! Kidney stones are awful. My dad has gone to the ER numerous times for them. Try to keep yourself busy and keep your mind off it, he'll be fine. If you want something to do, I can send you my accounting homework ;)

Cate's imaginary trip sounds pretty awesome too

calindi, I love your "plan a fake vacation" advice - I do that all the time, haha.  But with "real" vacations that we will go on someday!  I swear :)

To OP, your boyfriend's in good hands and I hope for the best for him.  I had a few friends with kidney stones and they're pretty horrid sounding, so I figure he did the right thing by going to the doctor.  Good luck to him!

Glad to see the update that he's doing a little better. It's the worst when a loved one is in the hospital and you can't get there! I'm sure he knows how much you care and want to be there.

lemon juice?  every time i've gone to the hospital/doctor for my kidney stones, they tell me to just drink water and that's it.  what is the reasoning behind lemon juice?  i'm very curious!

That's good he is ok, I'm sure that takes some worrying off your chest.  I know how useless you can feel when you can't be there for loved ones.  It's an awful feeling :(

    Update:
Well my bf is back home and sleeping. He's in a bit of pain but he got some medicine to help and that makes him tired so I'm hoping he'll be ok while I'm here at work (although I did ask for his firend to check in on his lunch break). About the lemon juice.. I don't know why it's good for him- but his doctor always says for him to drink a glass of it when he gets kidney stones.. I think it has something to do with the acid but again, I'm not really sure. Just in case I keep it in the house :) Thank you ladies for helping to keep me sane yesterday
@ Calindi: I did end up planning a wonderful cruise to the Caribbean and then a short stop at Disney for a week *sigh* if only.. lol :)

hope he's feeling better :O)  I had no idea about the lemon juice, I've heard of water and cranberry juice, too, but not lemon...good to know.  I've only suffered through it once, but it was more than enough.
