help with indoor garden wedding ideas - LONG

ladies...

I need a little bit of help with some decorating ideas.  we're doing the wedding/reception decor DIY.  my goal is to turn my church's fellowship hall into an indoor garden, with hanging lanterns and white twinkling lights.

my problem is the "garden" part of it...  any budget-friendly ideas (and pictures would be GREAT) of how to turn a church fellowship/reception room into a garden?

info:  the reception is more of a cocktail style, with seating for all but not a "dinner"...  appetizers, not dinners, so we won't have a bunch of tables for people to sit at...  mainly chairs and some tables.

current thoughts:

use tall house trees/plants and put them in corners, along the wall, and in between tables...  decorate the trees/plants with lights/flowers/butterflies/etc.

use staggered/raised potted plants.

flowers/greenery/etc. on the tables.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  my mom really wants to be involved, but she has trouble seeing my "vision".  her two favorite phrases right now are:
"Well, no one has ever done THAT before!"
...and...
"Well, you just can't DO that."

it's really becoming strained between us regarding the wedding style and difference of opinions.  I want to try and keep things positive, so having proof that it CAN be done is my best bet.  pictures and how-tos are great.

this wedding is the closest I've found to what I want to do...  just add in some paper lanterns and white twinkling lights, and less tables/more chairs, and color scheme with more eggplant/berry colored flowers.

    Go on saveoncrafts.com

They have bulsa wood flowers that are extremely cheap. I'm honestly not sure how good quality they actually are, because I haven't bought any yet, but we're going to do our flowers out of those I believe.

    That's all I've got.

Do you have a picture of the inside of your venue?  That would help me to visualize. :-)

Can you ask some of your bridal party/family/friends to donate use of their house plants and vines?  I think that would be your cheapest option for greening up the place, and adding your flowers would tie the mixed greenery together.

it's not exactly a "venue", seriously just the Fellowship Room at my church.  not fancy at all.  I tried to remember to get a pic of it the other night but I forgot.  I have the measurements of the room though.

    thanks for the help!
