I'm blaming all of you!

Okay, not all of you. Just those of you who told me to read The Hunger Games. I was bored last night so I decided I would just start reading it, thinking I wouldn't get very far and I'd finish after the semester ends. Well the book was just too freaking AMAZING and I finished the first book in the series last night and today I'm exhausted since I'm running on about 2 hours of sleep. I kept looking at the clock and thinking only a few more pages and then I'll go to bed but I just couldn't put it down!

LOL! I understand how you feel. I read all three in a week. I was sneaking pages during meetings (thank you, Kindle for iPhone).

I got through the whole series in a week, too.

It's a fast, fun read, even if the writing isn't the best ever.

Hahah, I love you Beth! So happy you enjoyed :) I know most people don't like the last book, but I actually really did like it. So I'm curious to hear what you're reaction to it will be!

I thinkkk Hunger Games is probably my favourite book/series currently. We'll see though, sometimes that changes.

Another one I thought was well done is Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I really enjoy her writing style- and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi came out today, and it's interesting. Almost written more like prose. All kind of similar storylines/ideas.

I've started the second one, I downloaded the trilogy onto my kindle. I have a 9 hour ride back to Idaho this weekend so I'll probably read the second one during that time. I like that the writing style is somewhat simple it's still captivating, it's a nice break from all the reading I have to for school

I read the first 2 while in Spain, but the third wasn't out yet or we couldn't find it. That was frustrating!

Really?  I didn't know the third wasn't very well liked.  I liked it better than the second.  Catching Fire was my least favorite.

    Agreed.
Yeah, most people were upset with the ending in MJ. I thought it was appropriate- just realistic enough for me, but still satisfying.

I was really upset by one of the deaths in Mockingjay, but probably not the one that bothered most people.

And yeah, I thought it ended well.  I would have liked to see a certain event develop more (gosh, it's hard to say what I mean without giving everything away to those who haven't read) rather than just be told about it, but that was kind of the style through the whole series anyway.

I loved the last couple paragraphs.  And the epilogue.

I think I know which death you mean, and I agree. It was a character I connected with more than the other one.
I think we're pretty much eye-to-eye on this because I loved the ending as well.

I did the same thing.  If I find a book that I get really into, reading it generally wins out over sleep.  I think I read the first book after work one day and basically picked it up as soon as I got home, and didn't put it down until I finished it that night.  It's a pretty addicting series, not because the actual writing is fantastic, but the whole concept is so interesting.

I think the endings for any of these kinds of series is difficult. I wasn't keen on the ending of Mocking Jay, but I also didn't care for the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Was it the epilogue you didn't like, or something else?  Because I thought the actual end to the story was perfect, but I can see where people don't like the epilogue.  It gets a little cheesy.

The epilogue. Which is then compounded by the fact that I watched my Blu-Ray of Deathly Hallows pt 2 on Sunday, where they tried to make the actors look 50 instead of 37.

I think I would've been happier without the epilogue, possibly for both stories, but I'd have to refresh my memory on Mocking Jay.

I LUVRES the Hunger Games! I read all three books in two days and didn't knot at all during those days, because I was OBSESSED. I also bought the boxed set. And I was so pissed at myself when I didn't buy all three at the same time....EVEN though all the ladies here told me I would kick myself if I didn't...and I totally did kick myself.

I really liked the first book and the second one was okay. The third one I just did not care for at all but I read it to finish out the series.

I liked the first book the best, followed by the third, and then the second.  But the series is one of my favourites for sure.

I worked at a book store when the first book came out, and fell in love with it right away.  I was always trying to recommend it to people but no one had heard of it at that point.

BF usually never reads anything but I actually convinced him to read these books, and he also loved them.   I'm hoping the movie turns out to be good!
