Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Catholic Wedding Music

I have heard and read so many conflicting things. I am hoping to get some clarity. The wedding coordinator at my church told me we could have any type of music we wanted as long as it was religious and not secular. She said it didn't matter the instrument or if we used the church organist. Well, I decided to hire a bagpipe player for our wedding music. My fiance and I love the sound of bagpipes. I have looked on several Catholic wedding websites that say no to pretty everything except what is traditionally used for Catholic services. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Catholic wedding music. I would be heart broken if I couldn't use my bagpipe player.

We used the following music in our Catholic ceremony:

-Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring for the bm processional
-Canon in D for my processional
    - The Prayer for the presentation of the gifts
-The Swan and Clair de Lune for Communion
    -Trumpet Voluntary for the recessional

    - That said, come up with a list of songs you like and ask your priest to ok them.
