WR: Ceremony Space Ideas

Ok ladies. As I've said before, I am really not into the whole planning process. I wish I had someone to do it for us. So I'm struggling with our ceremony space. We were originally thinking about having no decor of any kind in the ceremony space, hoping that the room would speak for itself. But I'm starting to think there needs to be at least a little something.  Here is like the only picture I have been able to find of the space.

We won't have Chivari chairs like in the photo. Also, they no longer allow loose petals on the floor. Apparently it's a slipping hazard. Obviously, the florals in this pic were all brought in separately. I am clueless how to brighten up the space a little bit while not spending a whole lot of money. I don't really want to have flowers, because it's just another thing to set up for the florists and too expensive. I was browsing etsy and came across this:
I would prefer it in all white or white and blue, but I'm not sure if it's too chintzy. I think we also are going to have to have a runner, but I'm not sure the length yet. Anyone have any thrifty ideas (including how to get a runner cheap)? Thanks!

  • If it were me I would probably skip the runner, do something simple for decorating the asile, and focus on the front of the space. Can you do candles?

I think I was envisioning something like you posted Liv, I just couldn't place it in my head, so thanks!

I think the reason for wanting a runner is mostly because of the carpet, but it's not a big deal. And I did a little more browsing and it looks like I could get just a simple white runner for around 30 bucks which is good since I'm not that adept of a sewer!

ETA: Candles are allowed, but the flame has to stay below the top of the glass.

  • You could do luminarias with the battery-powered tea lights for extra safety. I've seen the tea lights at 3/$1 at the dollar store.

I really like the standing arrangements in that photo. I know you don't want flowers because of the hassle and cost, but it's worth asking about. Our standing arrangements weren't too expensive and looked fantastic. The set-up was included. We just had to return the stands the next day.
  • I love candles. I think everyone should use candles.

  • I made a bunch of tissue pomanders (purple) and used a tutorial just like the tutorial posted by liv. They were easy to make, but a bit time consuming.

I think those, plus a few pretty candelabras or other candles... and maybe a floral arrangement.
Used to be bourgehm. +1,500 posts. Silly knot

    Ditto.
  • A friend of mine had floating candles lining the aisle. The only bad thing is my FI knocked one of them over, broke the vase, and got water everywhere. They also had candelebras at the front. I can't find a very good picture of just their decorations, but it looked gorgeous.

If flower petals are a slipping hazard then I would think your petal boa would be a tripping hazard. That's ridiculous that they think loose petals are a slipping hazard.
