She got skillz

So this creative post got me to thinking. There's a lot of talented people on this board and we dont know what they are.  Of course it makes me think of my own special skills, and it's depressing lol.  I have a realllly good intuition about things but idk if that counts.  I guess my biggest skill/talent is with riding horses.

What are your special talents or skills?

* I have come to the conlusion upon writing this post that "skills" is a funny word. How'd anyone come up with it? It just sounds funny. That is all.

    I bake/decorate cakes.

    Like this one.

That one was for my uncle's wedding.  Unfortunately that cake was sitting in his 80 degree house for about two hours before this picture was taken and the fondant/filling had begun to melt so it's leaning a little.  The flowers are all sugar made by hand by myself and my mother.

I'm a really good judge of character.  I'm also one heck of a snuggler.  I can also do makeup really well.

PPE, that's awesome! How long does something like that take?

I can sew, but I don't have much patience for it. I made a vintage-looking dress to wear to a friend's wedding last year.

My one special talent is apparently audio editing. We're doing a Halloween skit, and I did a Lady Gaga-Katy Perry mashup. Not a radio- or Glee-worthy kind of mashup, but I have the software and know how to use it. I also used to do sound for live bands, using one of these puppies:

I'm sort of a Renassaince Woman.  I have several skills, none of them absolutely exceptional by my assessment, but enough to impress people.

Our house is decorated with my art - ceramics and paintings and a few charcoal sketches.

I cook very, very well.  Baking, not so much.  I mean, I can do cookies and stuff but nothing special.

I am good at sewing, both by hand and machine.  I hand stitched my own Little Red Riding Hood cape last year.

I'm crafty and enjoy art projects.

I'm good at woodwork and built my own desk and bookshelf with my Dad in high school.

Mmm... no special skills... I ride horses and shoot guns pretty well. Oh and I'm a pretty good hiker, but besides that, nothing! I wish I was crafty though!!

I write songs and I'm a pretty good singer. Me and my BF played a show over the summer (He played guitar and I sang), it was so much fun. We wrote the songs ourselves...I want to do it again so bad, but he was really nervous---although, I'm not sure why. He was in soooo many bands before we met and he played on stages in front of people before, but I guess it was because there was more people in the bands and he wasn't the only musician on stage.

Anyway, those are my hidden talents...I love music. Writing, listening, and playing!

    Thanks ladies!

Leia: It depends on the kinds of flowers or decorations you make.  Those flowers we started a week out and worked on after work/school at night (calla lilies are actually really easy).  It probably took about three hours to crumb coat, cover, and decorate the whole thing.  It was the first time I ever used draping so that took a while.

I'm pretty crafty, it's my only semi-interesting skill. I'm at work, so I can't post any examples, but between my painting (acrylics) and BF's photography, our walls are certainly not bare (I love the colour and eclectic feel it creates though). I enjoy working with pencil crayon as well. I did a little photo editing and graphic design in high school, and I'd like to get back into that kind of thing some day as well. And then there's my bead/jewelry work. I create most of my own costume jewelry, and I absolutely love doing it. I used to sew (machine, primarily), but since I moved out of my Mom's house I don't have a sewing machine or a place to store one. When I have kids I think I'll get back into that and make some clothes, doll clothes, etc for them.

I was really good at building models and drafting when I was an architecture student,  but that talent doesn't really translate into anything real world now.  Other than that I don't really have anything spectacular that I can do that others can't....

I agree with Breezer - I am also fantastic at shopping and making men fall madly in love with me. lol.

I don't know that I have any really great skills but I can make a mean steak and I'm really good with counseling emotionally disturbed youth. (I believe I am anyway) I guess it's a good thing I'm aiming to be an intervention specialist.

Note: "skills" is a really weird word, along with "bicycle" I don't know why I think that but it's weird to me.

Purple, that cake is awesome!  I'm slowly getting into cake decorating, but um...you have no competition from me yet :)

My skills include crafting (needlework primarily, quilting, a little painting)

In my younger years (and still a bit today), I was awesome at music.  I play a lot of instruments, but French horn and flute are my main squeezes.  I hate living in a townhouse cause I'm not a performer (and hate people listening to me! especially when I'm only practicing!)

And I can read faster than anyone I know.  It gave me so much extra time on tests at school.  It also helps my grading speed now that I'm the teacher.

Oh, and I'm a psychotic planner (not towards wedding stuff though...cause that's bad luck or something) - I planned our summer vacation since like January.  And just made this awesome Word document with all the info and prices I found.  I also cross referenced all the northeast baseball schedules to see how many we could hit in one trip.

And I type really fast.  I need to stop so I stop rambling.

Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well. I do it so it feels like hell. I do it so it feels real. I guess you could say I've a call...

Can anyone guess where that is from?

I don't think I have any skills, but I've been told by many people that I am good at writing poetry, singing, and playing the flute.

B&W - You made me realize my talent as well! I am obsessively good at list making and planning anything. If something strikes my attention (and I do mean ANYTHING) I will research it to absolute death. I did the same thing with the writing down of prices and documents! I do it all by hand though and sometimes I get confused but I'm freaking awesome at planning pretty much anything. Maybe it's a teacher thing?!

Breezer - I hate that word too. Also, "ticky-tack" FI says it ALL THE TIME as in; "I don't have much left to do, just the ticky-tack stuff." It grates on my nerves so badly.
