AW: Wedding bands PIP

FI is firmly decided on his band. I also really like his band.

But, I'm feeling a little unsure about mine. Opinions?

I like it! It matches your ering perfectly!

I think FI needs a new wedding band though, it looks pretty sweet as a thumb ring,

Thanks, girls. I was thinking it was maybe a bit...ostentatious? It's kind of a lot of sparklies for my small hands and I want to make sure I'm keeping it classy. :)

And LOL @ ekath! I think my FI would be pretty annoyed if I made him go shopping for a different wedding band, but it IS kinda tempting to keep it as a thumb ring!

I dunno if it makes a difference, but here's a more zoomed out version so you can see how much finger space is taken up.

Do you want to wear it by itself? If so, you might want to think about a straight band. If not, they looks great!!

I think it looks beautiful. You will also get used to it ( = less ostentatious feeling).

Ditto Hetshup's question about ever wearing your band alone.

I would probably sometimes want to wear just the band. I'm considering leaving the e-ring at home for the HM.

    Pic of just the band:

Would the wavey band bother you?

I don't even know why I'm asking, you already bought them.

It doesn't look over the top at all. And I would leave my e-ring at home for the HM. Where are you going?

I love the look of the rings together, but I'm not a fan of the wavy band by itself.  My band is also going to be wavy to fit flush with my e-ring, and I don't want to take the set to the DR for our honeymoon (or any major travels, so I'm probably going to buy a simple white gold or silver band (the cheapest I can find) to wear whenever we travel.  Just an idea, since I"m not a fan of the wavy look without the ring to make it make sense.

Thanks for all the opinions, girls! Appreciate it. :)

Acro -- We're going to Hawaii, so we're planning to spend a lot of time on the beach, hiking, etc. I really do not like to go without my e-ring, but I am leaning toward your idea of getting a plain, inexpensive band.

I'm just uber-paranoid about either losing it or having it stolen.  As both of my rings are family heirlooms, I just can't stomach the thought of either of those things happening.  We're going to DR, but will be on the beach most of the time, and I know I won't want to wear it out on the beach, and I'm not comfortable leaving the rings in our room, even in the safe.

    I know.  Like I said, UBER-paranoid.

It is definitely not too much.  Then again, I like a bit of sparkle.

I like Acro's idea about getting a simple band for your HM.  After wearing your e-ring for so long, it will feel off to not have something there.  (I had to stop wearing my rings about 2 weeks ago.  DH got me a larger band to wear through the rest of this pregnancy because it just felt weird.  And I didn't like walking around looking like an unmarried whale.)

    LOL @ unmarried whale!

I'm going to go ahead and at least take a look at some plain bands.

I don't think it's too much either!  I don't like wavy bands, but if it's not something that bothers you then I think it's great because it looks really nice with your E-ring.

Story related to not wearing your wedding ring:
My sister broke her finger and couldn't wear her rings.  Shortly after that she found out she was pregnant and went in for her first doctor's appointment for the official pregnancy test.  The nurse took her back to the exam room, handed her a copy of "American Cheerleader" magazine and said "Here.  You'll probably like this."

What about having a fake ring made up to look like your original?  I don't know where they do this, so I guess I'm not very helpful, but I have heard of this being done.

BF is insistent that at the same time we make the original ring, he's going to have them make a copy with CZ and stainless steel or similar metal.  That way, I can wear it when I travel and most people won't even notice the difference.

Alternatively, you could just pick out a CZ ring that you like.  That way if you lose it or it gets stolen, you won't be heartbroken or lose a lot of money.

I'd actually considered the CZ alternative, and maybe further down the road when I have more time to do things I'll get it done, because it's a brilliant idea.  But right now, with planning our wedding and attending/helping with/being in 10 others, it's easier to just get a plain band and not worry about taking my ring and having it cast and re-made, etc.  Especially since I would have my uncle do it and he's been working on my wedding band since February.  I'm just hoping it's done in time for our wedding... Undecided

Although I have to say the only reason I would do this is because the diamonds and emeralds in my wedding set are basically chips.  The "large" center diamond is .1 carat.  If I had anything over 1 carat, I would just stick with the band anyways.  People can't tell the difference between CZ and diamonds on first glance, and if they're taking it from a hotel room, that's fine.  If they're robbing you at gunpoint, not so fine.  Sorry...again, UBER-paranoid.  I'm marrying a prosecutor and I'm from Savannah, so muggings and shootings are a part of my daily life.

If they're robbing you at gunpoint, you just hand over the ring!  Although I've heard creepy stories about people getting their finger cut off.  Yikes!

With that in mind, it might make sense just having a band and skipping the engagement ring while you travel altogether.

Yea...in Savannah (at least when I lived there), they shot you anyway so you couldn't ID them as the mugger.  I've never worn flashy jewelry at all because of it, even costume jewelry.

Sorry...don't mean to scare anyone.  I'm sure my fears are somewhat abnormal.  Frown
