Keep Those Fingers Crossed!!

I got an email from the bank I had the second interview with on Friday... they are doing reference checks over the next couple of days & hope to have a final decision by the end of the week!! I alerted all of my references, and now I will be sitting here being nervous every time my bosses phone works, haha!

Thanks ladies! Liv, one of my other friends said that too, that if they're calling references, it pretty means they're going to offer it to me! I tend to be a little more skeptical, and think that they could be calling references for multiple candidates... ack! Also, I meant that my stomach is doing flip flops every time my bosses phone RINGS, not works... see how nervous I am!?

Soooo... in other news, I just got an email from a private school that I had applied to, asking if I was still interested & asking to set up a phone interview!! I guess that's what happens when you apply to 30+ jobs at once, huh?

    What do I tell them??

Eesh, I don't know... it's another communications position, in roughly the same area of the state (it's actually a little more rural), not sure salary differences... I applied for it at a time where I was throwing my resume at everything that said "Communications/PR" so I wasn't really being very discriminatory. Is it bad to tell them that I am involved with something else, but would like to be considered if this doesn't work out?

I would never say no to an interview, personally. I was unemployed for almost a year (similar field as you, Bri, I have my BA in Communications/Media), and I didn't care if I liked the job or not, if they wanted to interview me, I would go.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but you don't know that this bank job is a sure thing. In February, I went through hell with a job I reallyreally wanted - they asked for my references and everything. I was in the top 3 people considered. Then they didn't hire me.

Don't burn your bridges, and keep options open!!!

Bside - I totally agree with you. While I'm hoping this bank thing goes through, I definitely know it's not a sure thing. So should I tell them we can schedule a phone interview, or say that I'm involved with something else and if that falls through, I am still interested?

I would definitely schedule. Don't tell them you're involved with something else! They might not even consider you at that point! Play it safe. You never know. If you get both jobs, one will have to be turned down (in that case, say you were offered more money at another position, they will probably understand that). If not, you have something to fall back on!

    Vibessssssssss!

As for the second possible job I highly recommend keeping your options open!  I  would suggest not mentioning other possiblilties or options unless it came up in the interview, then I'd let them know that you've had a couple interviews, but it is not necessary at all to be forward with that information.  Honestly, I think that telling them that you had interviews could have negative reaction...they could think they are wasting their time and you'll be snatched up before they can get to the point of making an offer.

P.S. I have my legs crossed for you...it's too hard to type with my fingers crossed! ;)

Good luck!!  And ya I wouldn't tell them unless you get hired by the bank.
