Not Engaged Yet

Drive away my BSC-ness please!

Ok, so maybe i'm not totally BSC right now, but I am a little batty...

BF and I had a wonderful weekend. Not over-the-top romantic, but one of those weekends where everything just seems to go right and everyday stuff just makes you feel like things are going your way. Saturday night we decided to just have a quiet night at home, order in Chinese and read/study in bed with candles lit. It was so relaxing. Given the general feel-good mood we were in (and I'm assuming the 2 beers BF had consumed), BF decided to mention that he had purchased an engagement ring. I had guessed that he had purchased a ring, but never knew it. He told me that he wants the proposal to be unique and that he's had the ring for 4 months. He also asked if I wanted to see it...he's apparently been staring at it while I'm not home.

I am very proud of myself here. Not only did I ask him to keep it hidden from me until he actually proposes...I told him to take his time and wait until he was ready. I did mention that I didn't need an over-the-top proposal, but that I was excited for whatever he might have in store.

So....of course I'm going a little crazy even though I was able to keep my cool in the moment. He's had the ring for 4 months? It's somewhere in my condo? Shoes predicted July? AHHH....

Please tell me to get my head out of the clouds and bring me back down to Earth here ladies! Funnies? LOL cats? Distractions?

You can have fun planning the next Colorado girly get together. That will surely ward off BSC! :)

Wow. I can't believe he's had the ring for four months. That's crazy! Before he even asked your mom for your hand in marriage. He's moving in the right direction! This is most definitely a special time.

Regarding LOLCats- My sister is in high school- so she's of the age where she posts all this emo stuff on her facebook and what not. There is a website called "Go Cry Emo Kid" http://gocryemokid.memebase.com/ That makes fun of all the type of pictures she posts. It's pretty funny.

Yay Allusive! So exciting! Now forget about it :) I second CCO's advice to get some books to read :) Start a new TV series on Netflix and get into it, and plan some more freind outtings like Lunar said. It will all happen faster than you think, so take this time to enjoy the moment :)

Boys really don't realize how hard they make it for us girls. *facepalm*

You deserve AWESOME props for how you handled it. Now try to put it out of your mind. After all, you had a fabulous time, it's going to happen, so just sit back and let it happen. I like the reading recommendations. I just finished the Help yesterday, and it rocked.

Water for elephants was a pretty decent book - not really my normal like - but it was still a decent read.

AWESOME props on how you handled the whole situation. :) Now, as for distractions...ummmm.... find me an awesome recipe foooor oh...i don't know... o0o0o... i need a new recipe for a dessert that is easy and doesn't have chocolate (FFIL's stomach can't handle chocolate) and me being a chocoholic.... I am trying to find healthier desserts for after dinner during the week as kind of a "pick me up" so, there...now you have a project...go :)

LOL you don't really have to, but if you want to..ya know.. Tongue out

yay for suggestions! I'm putting my replies in one long post - so here it goes!

CCO2012 - I've read The Help (loved it!), so i'm heading to B&N tonight to get Water for Elephants. Can't wait - I've been looking for a new book to dig in to!!

Lunar - LOVE the emo pics! hahaha. That's a wonderful distraction. We should absolutely get together again soon. BF is going to a rockie's game on the 16th...wanna plan something?

Mookow - Online shopping you say? oh my - i've been looking at couches online all morning! After my cleaning spree yesterday, I realized this is the one thing i would just love to replace if I could afford to. But alas, I am only window shopping for now...

csousa - is netflix a good deal? I know i'm probably the only person on the planet without a netflix account! hahaa. BUT it seems all of the video rental stores around me have closed...so Redbox has been my only option as of late...and it leaves me wanting.

Becunning - you make me laugh! Thanks for the props...it took a lot of restraint to not say "give it to me know!!! pleeazzzzzze!"

Irish - here is my go-to desert! (clicky) Super easy, simple ingredients - and NO CHOCOLATE! BF loves it, so I think it may be a winner with your guy too!! Do line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper...i've had it stick before when I forgot to!

Raven - Don't jinx me! haha!! j/k I love the make food idea...Irish's post about deserts makes me want to host a dinner party or something!

Way to go Allusive! You handled that amazingly well. I know my FI had the ring for about 3 months before he asked. My advice, just don't go cleaning out things that you wouldn't normally do. Apparently I got really close to where he hid the ring and didn't know it.

I definitely agree about the book. I loved Water for Elephants.

GOOD ADVICE! I hadn't really thought about this when I got on my cleaning spree yesterday. Thank goodness I didn't come across anything. Although BF is not good at keeping secrets, he is good at hiding my dark chocolate from me. Hopefully this means his ring hiding place will not be inadvertently uncovered!

    Haha. I like this.

You handled it really well, Allusive! Now that you know it's definitely coming, try to stay in the moment with your BF and enjoy the time you have left together as BF and GF.

    Oh, and SQUEEE!!

I would have reacted the same way! I'm seriously impressed with your self-restraint, Allusive. I'm going to draw from this anytime he brings up rings, timelines, etc. to prevent myself from trying to fish for more details :)

haha. That's what I was thinking....but tried really hard not to say. I keep telling myself that if I behave I'll get a proposal as wonderful as Tigers! Of course I'll love the proposal no matter what, but for now that's my motivation to keep my mouth shut and not "accidentally" find anything!!
