Interrogation Room - marleylikeair

Can I be up today? I finally have time, and starting next week, I'll be a workin' machine.

Ask me anything!

I'll be a little in and out this morning, but around all afternoon.

    Posted by Ember01[/QUOTE]<div>
</div><div>Favorite season? Fall. Pretty leaves, and it smells so good! Spring and Summer are tied for a close second, though.</div><div>
</div><div>Do you have a smart phone? I'm addicted to my iPhone. I hope the next one that comes out is good--I don't like the iPhone 4--because I'm overdue for an upgrade, and I want all the flashy new features!</div><div>
</div><div>Mac or PC? I'm a Mac girl all the way. I was converted in college. Had a lot of friends who went to design school, and they were required to use a Mac. I think they're easier to use and last longer. I'm typing to you on a 7-year-old iBook right now. The longevity and all the free help at the Genius Bar, even post-warranty, makes it soooo worth paying a little more.</div><div>
</div><div>Favorite piece of clothing in your closet? Oooh, that's hard to pick. I have a pair of Brian Atwood stilettos I LOVE. I got them at 80% off. They remind me of ballet a lot--the heels are sparkly, like the bodice of a tutu, and they tie on with long satin ties. (Also, the color is ballet-like--kind of a nude/peach/pink.) I HAD to have them. They screamed "me."
    </div><div>
</div><div>Do you like to drive? I LOVE to drive. I didn't get to much when I was living in NYC, and just got my first car about 4 months ago. I also didn't get my license until I was 19, because I was always spending all my free time in dance/theatre stuff, so no time for driver's ed! I used to get a lot of crap from my mom for not being a good driver, so having my own car now feels...amazing.</div><div>
</div><div>Favorite TV show? The Office or Mad Men.</div>

Do you want kids? Nope. I don't rule out the possibility that that may change, maybe as I get more settled in a career and feel like more of my life is under control, but I've never wanted them. :-/

What color of crayon do you want to be? Red! Sparkly red!

What is your beverage of choice? (alcoholic and non) Alcoholic - margarita or vodka tonic. Non - Fresca!

What was your favorite vacation? Paris. Le sigh. So beautiful. Such fantastic food.

What's your favorite dance style? Ballet. Cool Jazz is great, too, though.

What's your favorite type of music? Right now, it's any of the disco stuff that hasn't been overplayed and has a funky edge.

Who is your idol (in general, not just dance)? I don't think I have one, really. But I have a lot of admiration for my ballet teacher from Michigan. She's tiny, but commands so much respect, and is funny and very intelligent. You don't want to mess with her. Also, I love Julie Andrews. I'm a dork.

What is your biggest fear? Probably losing my grandparents. Or in terms of irrational ones, moths. They freak me out beyond all reason.

What kind of TV do you watch? I like anything that's well-written and develops characters and their relationships with one another. Hence The Office and Mad Men topping my list. I used to love Judging Amy. Gilmore Girls, too. (Way more depth there than meets the eye.) I also like some vintage stuff, like The D!ck Van Dyke Show. I think that show is brilliant.

(Uhhh...TK wouldn't let me post D!ck Van Dyke's name! Whaaa? But "Dyke" is okay...)

What's your favorite thing about your SO? I can't pick just one! I love his hazel eyes, and the way they look down at me with so much love. I love the way it feels when I'm wrapped up in his arms. He smells good, and he's so much bigger than me, so that I'm truly all wrapped up. Aww, I'm all gushy!
What's your worst habit? Picking at my nails. They never look good unless I've just gotten a manicure, which I almost never do.
What's something most people don't know about you? Probably how pessimistic and morbidly existential I can be in my thinking. I'm very positive/friendly on the outside, but on the inside, it's taken me some work not to get bogged down in the depressing stuff. It's all about acknowledging it, then getting moving and living life.
    Brie or Gouda? Brie!

I'm still trying to pull it up from memory...  Here's what I've got so far:

First name the creature who deals in disguise
Who (something something something) and tells naught but lies.

Next (something) last thing to mend
The middle of middle and then end of the end

Last give the sound that's most often heard
During the search for a hard-to-find word

Now string them together and answer me this
What is the creature you'd least like to kiss?

    I think I'm close?

Do you like cotton candy? YES.

What are you wearing today? A towel. I don't work today until 2:15, so I'm starting slow and just got out of the shower!

What's your favorite flower? Roses. I'm cliche like that sometimes.

Favorite pair of shoes? Probably my everyday favorite: black ballet flats with subtle fake snakeskin imprint and buckle-ish detail. They work with jeans or a more dressy look, and for work as well. :)

Wow, that's pretty good Elle... I cheated and googled it:

First think of the person who lives in disguise,
Who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.

Next, tell me what's always the last thing to mend,
The middle of middle, and end of the end?

And finally give me the sound often heard
During the search for a hard-to-find word.

Now string them together and answer me this,
Which creature would you be unwilling to kiss?

I have noticed that you've asked many questions along those lines before and I agree that they are definitely good questions. My comment was only that I found it interesting you asked Marley as well since she tends to stay away from political comments :) that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to seeing answers! I love the interrogation room posts for that reason, there's such a diverse amount of questions being asked and I feel like I get a more well-rounded understanding of the posters who participate.

Marley, how do you feel about the death penalty? Dislike it. It's irreversible, for one thing. If more evidence comes in that sheds new light on the person's case, then what?

    Pro life/pro choice?

    Thoughts on euthanasia?

My thoughts on both are that they are most often very personal, emotional, and/or related to personal faith, and thus are not appropriate matters for public policy. I don't think the government should make laws that make these decisions for us.

What's one controversial thing you and your BF disagree on? He's more fiscally conservative than I am. We were talking about food stamps not too long ago, and he said before he'd ever take that kind of assistance, he'd sell everything he owned, including the house. I, on the other hand, don't think he should have to do this if it was a choice between food and a roof over our heads. Or food and things that help him make money, like his woodworking equipment.

How do you feel about glitter nailpolish? (Answer carefully... I'm wearing gold glitter right now!) I am Pro-Glitter.   (But I don't wear it often myself.)

What's your guilty pleasure food? Easy Mac. Or Ben & Jerry's Phish Food.

Do you like to wear hats? Cute winter hats, yep. Or as costume pieces, which are fun. When I did My Fair Lady in high school, my hat for the Ascot Gavotte scene was almost three feet wide and, with all the feathers, four feet tall! It was AWESOME. We got really lucky and had some fantastic costumes on loan for that show.

What's one fashion trend you don't like? The return to the 1990s that's coming about currently. I am not all about some denim button-down shirts.

Do you like to watch ballet? If so, what's your favourite one to see? Yep, but not as much as I like to be in them! Giselle is probably my favorite. There's so much history/legend and a lot of great acting in it. The music is beautiful, too. (Trivia: same composer as the song "O Holy Night," Adolphe Adam.)

What I love most is the story. At the end of the first act, Giselle finds out that her new love is already engaged to someone else. She goes mad and dies of a broken heart, then becomes a supernatural being, a Wili, doomed to dance through the night and get revenge on cheating men by dancing them into full-on exhaustion and killing them. But because she truly loves Albrecht, she goes easy on him and gets him through to sunrise, when she'll have to disappear, and thus he escapes. Not very feminist, but it's very poignant to see. (More trivia: this ballet is where we get the expression "it gives me the willies.")

Also love Don Quixote and a more modern one by Jiri Kylian called Petite Mort (This title has a double meaning. Google it if you don't know. Wink )

    Shaken or stirred? Shaken.
What kind of cellphone do you have? iPhone 3G. Hoping the next iPhone model is a good one. I want to upgrade!

    Favorite bug? Ladybug!

Would you rather not be able to taste or not be able to smell? Smell, I guess. I love food too much to give up tasting.

All time favorite movie? Can't pick this! Omigosh. When I was younger, I used to always say it was The Sound of Music, because of my Julie Andrews thing. I do still love that movie. It's got a little of everything: drama, laughs, great scenery and costuming, beautiful music, forbidden love, Nazis...

Favorite dessert? Anything French and authentic. I had some profiteroles in Paris that made the world stop and fireworks go off in my head. Le sigh.

What place in the world is still on your must-see list? The Great Pyramids.

Best day of your life? Hmm. I know it sounds cheesy, but I have to say either the day I met BF or the day we had our first date.  We met at our friends' wedding, which was so much fun, and I caught the bouquet. On our first date, which was 3 months later, there was this moment when we hugged each other tight while we were out walking on the lakewalk, and it was the happiest moment I'd ever had. I was just filled with this incredibly warm feeling of well-being.Favorite childhood memory? If high school counts, probably playing Eliza in My Fair Lady. If not, probably the trip to Alaska with my family when I was 12. We took a small-ship cruise for three days in Glacier Bay. I was one of only about three people who saw this humpback whale do a full breach (jump  ALL the way out of the water and smack down sideways). It's apparently kind of rare to see that. The tour guide/nature expert guy on board was so excited for me that he brought me a hot chocolate with a huge pile of whipped cream on top. I totally had a crush on him, too. Wink Something you will tell your children (if you have them or your nieces/nephews) one day? To be kind to others.

Something you will tell your children (if you have them or your nieces/nephews) one day? To be kind to others.

</div><div>Let's see...I don't know nearly enough about attractions in Australia! Hard to say. But of course I'd want to see the Sydney Opera House. I'm a big fan of interesting architecture. I would also want to go see the Australian Ballet. One of my teacher's most influential teachers was a ballet mistress/teacher there--Janina Cuinovas. She died a couple of years ago, and I really regret not interviewing her for the book on pedagogy I keep saying I'm going to write.</div><div>

I got all of the rhyming parts right, so I give myself credit.  :)

I can also recite the Sorting Hat songs from the 1st and 4th books, and the poem on the Gringotts door.

What do you thnk of people from Louisiana? (We do not ALLhave pet alligators) I don't know anyone from Louisiana, except some of the NEYers. As far as I can tell, people from Louisiana are pretty kicka$$.

How was living in NYC? Living in NYC was cool. I learned a lot and had a ton of good times. It's a tough place to live, but it's also endlessly fascinating. It's very fast-paced, which is sometimes good and sometimes tiring. I don't miss the crowdedness, but I do miss some things--mostly Arts-related things. I miss the food, too! NOM. Also, NYC's population is fairly fashion-obsessed but pretends it doesn't care about what it's wearing. Which is fun. I made up for years upon years of being fashion-ignorant while living there, and love that I have some fashion sense now.

Have you ever had Raising Cane's? Nope. What are those? I think I might want one now.

    Favorite candle scent?
I like my candles like I like my body spritzers: inspired by green fruits. Green apple, pear, or cucumber melon.
