Issues all up in hurrr

My night involved a bunch of firemen and policemen and smoke and floods. Read on for some excitement..

So, last night we had a bit of a flood in our apartment suite. I was doing dishes and looked down and realized that some water was coming out of our pipes. Called maintenance and they said they'd come over in the morning since it sort of stopped. They came in the morning, looked at it, and said they couldn't see anything. They said to just watch it throughout the day.

So, tonight... Me and one of my roommates are sitting in the kitchen eating dinner and suddenly hear a waterfall. Look over and no joke, twenty or more gallons of water are flying out of the cabinet under our sink.  CRAP. So, we run over there and try to mop it up as it's flying out, and filling up all of our pots and pans.  There is a flood. Underneath our apartment is a conference room where evidently a very important interview was going on. Water was flying through the ceiling in there evidently too... Superb. We called the RA and she sent over an emergency plumber. He fixed it. After we mop everything up and its almost normal again, we crack open the wine and watch bones. Tons of people keep stopping over making sure we're okay and policemen kept checking on us. Exciting, right?

But then... we start smelling smoke. Look over and there is smoke flying out of our dishwasher. O NO! So, we called the RA again in panic. She comes running over. They call 911. The campus policeman runs over with fire extinguishers and junk. My roommates and I were all freaking out in the hallway because it smelled terrible. After the sewer water flood and then this smoke... ick... The firemen open our dishwasher and yank it out of the wall. Ends up that after running the dishwasher soo many times to make sure water wouldn't fly out of the pipes, the little thing that collects grease from a george foreman fell by the coils and caught on fire.  Oops. Embarrassing.

Exciting night. My roommates and I will probably be the talk of our apartment building for a few weeks now. Superb..

Hope your night was better than mine!!

Yowzers! That's nuts! I'm glad everyone is okay--and that you can laugh about it now! But I'm sure it was stressful as it was happening.

Haha, wow, that definitely is a funny story after everything is said and done. I have no stories that even come close to comparing, lol. The worst we've had here was a small leak in the ceiling when they were doing roofing work and then I caught a pan on fire because I left oil on the heat too long and forgot about it. We left a nice singe mark on the wood patio outside from that one, lol. Yours are definitely more entertaining, but what fun is life if you don't have stuff like that every once in a while? : ) I'm glad you're all ok too!

I'm glad you guys are all okay! That is a funny story after the fact :)

If it makes you feel any better....I woke up at 4 am next to a dog turd. In my bed. The dog barked, I woke up, and came face to face with the present she left me.
She has never done that before. I do not know what posessed her to defecate in my sleeping haven. She will not be invited back anytime soon.

<div>My dog NEVER sleeps in my bed, but one time I was home alone and feeling nice so I let him sleep in it.... about 3 hours later I wake up to him right in my face all happy and then realize there was dog pee on the bed and it had soaked 2 comforters, a fleece blanket, and both sheets... He is NEVER allowed back in that bed, doing laundry and having to make the bed again at 3am is not fun.</div>

Hahaha, that's so not cool, but so funny, lol. I always had my parents' dog sleep with me when I lived at home, but when FI get a house and a puppy, we will give it one of those poofy pillow beds, so it won't get to sleep with us. FI hasn't ever really been allowed to have pets, so that's his rule, but it still gets to cuddle with me on the couch, lol. I'm ok with that.

Seeing how Riley has been this week, I'm surprised I haven't woke up next to a turd (beside the dog herself). The other night I woke up to FI screaming "SHE'S PUKING ON YOU!!!" Then he gagged and moved to the livingroom while I cleaned my leg and changed the sheets. Puke "makes him siiiick" and he "can't handle it without puking"...whatever. A day or two before that, I woke up to her eating my work shoes.

Sorry Polka- Were the firemen at least good to look at?
