I need work advice...

So my second job has not worked me in over a month. I have gone in and talked to the manager several times about this, and she has assured me that she will start scheduling me and has continued not to do so. I need the money to help me pay for school. I had three days availability and was hired with this availability back in July.

SInce I haven't worked there in over a month, I would like to give these days to my first job so that way I am working more and making more money. I have been wrestling with the decision for a while and have decided to put in my two weeks.

Could you tell me if this sounds alright? This is what I have:

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to notify you that I am putting in my two weeks’ notice. My last day available is February 17, 2011. I will not be able to work the weekend of February 11-14 because I will be out of town on this weekend. I would like to thank you for the opportunity of allowing me to work with "said company". It was a great pleasure and I am thankful for the experience it has provided me.  Thank you very much for everything.

Sincerely; luvdncn90

Two things:  1)  If they're not giving you any hours anyway, why don't you just wait for them to fire you so you can collect unemployment?  2)  Don't say "because" anything for why you can't work a weekend.  Just say you're not available.

Well normally I would wait but it's been a hassle because they schedule me weekly so I have to wait until every Thursday to see if she will work me and then when I'm not scheduled, it's an even bigger hassle trying to pick up shifts at my first job. This way, I can just give all of my availability to my first job. I'm struggling with money now.

And thanks for the advice on the weekend part. That's the main part I was struggling with!

    I also wouldn't write a reason - it's not their business.

    Otherwise, it sounds good!
