**Elle**

I'm sorry to bug you, but I remember in a post a long time ago you said you're quite an avid bike rider. I'm looking at getting a used bike for getting around campus, and for the occasional ride on public trails, but I know nothing about bikes. I'm not super fit, so there won't be any crazy mountain riding for quite a while.

BF found this one posted on Craigslist (clicky), and it seems like it would be ok (although I wouldn't use her helmet.). What do you think?

Bug me?  Please.  I'm always happy to talk about riding.

I don't have any experience Norco as a brand, but I think they have a pretty good reputation.  Do you know how old the bike is?

Regardless, a hybrid is a great option for the type of riding you're looking for.  And you're really smart to buy used instead of spending a bunch of money on a brand new bike when you don't even really know how much your'e going to enjoy it.

Are you a similar height to the seller?  If you are, you're probably ok, but you're definitely going to want to take it for a test ride before you fork over the money.  It still might not fit you quite right.  For example, I actually ride a bike that's a couple centimeters bigger than most people my height, because I have long arms and a long torso relative to my frame.  And when you test ride, try to focus on things other than the comfort of the seat.  It's funny because an uncomfortable seat tends to be the most glaring issue when you ride a new bike, but it's pretty much the least important concern.  Seats can be easily changed, and bike shorts are a gift from the heavens.

Finally, if you buy it, take it to a local bike shop for a tune up.  As long as it doesn't need any repairs/replacements, it won't cost you much and it'll prevent future problems.  If you pay for the tune up, they'll probably fit you for free.  You definitely want to be fitted by a knowledgeable person before you do too much riding.  It makes a world of difference.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thank you so much! I'm excited, because I think it'll be a great way to see our new city and get healthier in the process :)
