I "won"!

Got a call from Table Charms today and apparently I won a draw that I entered at a bridal show.  What did I win, you ask? Well I won the right to go to a 90 minute presentation where they try to sell me over-priced pots and pans and then they give me a g/c for $250 worth of rings from JVL Jewellery (which doesn't have any rings myself or FBD likes) and a 3 day/2 night stay to a hotel in North America.  Sounds pretty good, eh? Well I did some research ('cause I'm hella skeptical) and found out that yeah you get these things but you have to pay a deposit to get the hotel and they get to choose where it is...oh and you pay the flights.

Thanks for the offer Table Charms but I'll keep my Friday night for myself.

Ugh, I hate those kinds of "wins" it's the only kind of raffle that I ever get. I don't blame you for the no show.  Could you just get the jewelry without the trip??

That's so lame! I agree you should see if you can get the gift card for the jewlery store at least. If none of it is your taste maybe you can use the g/c to get christmas presents for people who like that kind of jewelry? Also 90 minutes is a long time to be trying to sell pots and pans unless said pots and pans can do dishes and fold laundry what else is there to say? "Here's a pot! You put stuff in it, and if you put it on the stove it will cook whatever you put in it." DONE

Hahahaha... reminds of the time I had to sit through a time share presentation to get free tickets to Disneyland.  That's just annoying as hell, get your hopes up and then squash them with the fine print.  Sorry to hear that Paige.

I got SO many of these calls during wedding planning!  I'm still at a loss as to how they get phone numbers and addresses.  I like to call these people PIRATES!

I "won" the same exact thing after attending a bridal show.  Actually, I won twice with 2 different companies.  Needless to say, I didn't go.

I won that, went to the show, and bought $3000 dollar pots and pans :) they're pretty sweet dishes though, and they came with a cruise

ETA: the trip is more woth it than the rings. the rings are all ugly/manly

Congrats, Paige! That sounds like an amazing prize to have "won" by doing absolutely nothing.

I hate these places. Serendipity or something was calling me every.single.day for 3 weeks trying to tell me we had "won" a free honeymoon. How you ask? Apparently, one of my vendors entered us into it or something. It was also for the pots and pans.

I cannot do another one of those presentations.
