WR: check - ceremony music

Since I've had requests for updates, here's one big check for me.  Ceremony music was one thing that I was having a hard time with - just wasn't sure what I wanted and our music director at church had said she would help me with it, but she ended up having to go out of town on a family emergency and just got back.  Our pastor had a CD he thought might help me - it was all ceremony music appropriate for a church setting.

So, FI and I listened to it this morning and made our selections (and a couple back-ups, just in case the church doesn't have the sheet music for the organist, although our organists seem to have sheet music for every song known to man, so I'm thinking our 1st choices won't be a problem).

Seating of the family (my mom, FI's step-mom and FI's sister):
       Stanley: Trumpet Tune

Procession of the Bridal Party
Clarke: Trumpet Voluntary (Prince of Denmark's March)

Procession of the Bride
        Wagner: "Wedding March" from Lohengrin

Solo during the Sand Ceremony (sung by my MOH's mom)
Through the Eyes of Love (theme song from Ice Castles) - we've actually had this one picked out for a very long time

Recessional
Handel: "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" from Solomon.

How's everyone's Friday going?

Yay!! That's awesome. I especially love the song you picked out for the solo!!! Good choice.

My Friday is going wonderful. I went grocery shopping and have homemade spagetti sauce simmering on the stove for tonight. O!! And, Jeff is coming up in a few hours!! He's on his way to visit me now! I'm so excited.

    Good picks Angie!

I'm having a decent Friday. I have class later tonight and I'm trying to fit in some homework but writing a paper on Gorgias's skeptical philosophy is just not appealing to me right now.

Spaghetti sounds yummy - that's one of FI's favorite meals.

There's a story behind the solo song...I've loved that song since I was little.  I've only heard it at one wedding, when I was about 17.  I decided right then and there that I was going to have that song at my wedding someday (never realizing at that time that my wedding wouldn't be for another 19 years).  About 10 years ago, after some wedding at my church, my MOH, her mom and I were recapping that wedding.  I told her about wanting that song in my someday wedding.  She said she could sing it and I said sure. She went out and bought the sheet music for it the next day.  When FI and I first started dating, she said she had a feeling about us and was going to pull the sheet music out and "dust it off" - her hunch was good.

That's adorable, Angie. Really sweet that you had that song picked out for years and your MOH's mom was already wanting to sing it.  I'm pretty sure if someone sang a song that special for me on my wedding day, I'd need some really waterproof makeup.  Sooo awesome!
