Speaking of hair ... do you prefer shaved, trimmed, full and fluffy?

What do you like on your man's face?

  • I voted scruffy, outdoorsy look. I can't help it. I love it.

He doesn't like it to get too long and he shaves it for work, but I do like him cleanly shaven too. And he smells so good after he shaves. Every morning after he gets out of the shower, he'll come find me and give me a kiss. I practically grab his face and take a big whiff. I don't know what it is, but I love it, lol.

  • It depends.  When we're camping, I like the scruffy, outdoorsy look.  He had a goatee for awhile before he accidentally shaved half the mustache part off, so now he's clean shaven.  I like the goatee, but think I want clean shaven for the wedding.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. His mom would kill him if he was anything but cleanly shaven, lol. She already fusses about him not shaving on the weekends. That may or may not have something extra to do with why I like it when he doesn't shave, lol.

ETA: This guy pulls off facial hair with a tux pretty well though:

  • Yeah... if Tyler shaves in the morning, within a couple of hours, he has a full five o'clock shadow going. He always has some sort of structured facial hair in addition to the shadow because if he completely shaves, he looks like a twelve-year-old boy. A 6'3" twelve-year-old boy.

  • I like clean shaven, I don't mind the scruff but it has to have grown for a while to get soft, else the bristle burn irks me to hell.  Hahaha.... I'm going to have a barber give Danish man a nice close shave for the wedding.
  • I totally thought this was going to be about lady bits grooming. I also thought your "white stuff" thread was going to be about semen. Apparently I have sex on the brain? Idk. :)

In any case, my H has a closely trimmed beard and mustache, and he looks so much more grown up to me with the facial hair than without. I can't stand when it's too long or unruly, so he keeps it trimmed and shaves around the edges to give it a nice, clean shape. He has very soft facial hair, not prickly or abrasive at all. I love his beard. It makes me want to snuggle his face. <3

Haha, I may or may not have worded the titles that way on purpose, so not completely your fault.

I like to feel FI's face when his hair gets long enough to be soft too. I like it when he grows his hair on his head out too, but also like that cut. I like him any which way, I guess, lol.

I think the longest I've seen FI go without shaving was probably 4 or 5 days. He says it hurts if it gets too much longer and it curls and pokes his face too. I don't know if all guys' hair does that or if it has to get past that before it stops or what, but I don't think I'd like a full beard (my dad has one), so I'll take him as he is (shaven during the week, scruffy on the weekends).

  • I like FI clean shaven. He has super light hair, and it looks kind of silly longer. But in general I am a fan of the perfectly short "weekend beard."
The only thing I don't like is the goatee.  I have strong opinions about it, and FI has only had one twice since we've been dating.  It didn't turn out well for him.   He shaves to look professional for work a few times a week, and I like that.  I also like when he lets it grow in and look scruffy.  He doesn't grow anything thick though, and I don't think I would like that.  (Neat fact - his facial hair grows in with a red tint.  He's got typical southern Italian features - dark everything - so it looks kinda funny.)
    Posted by yaga13
FI tried doing just a mustache a few years before we met. I am SOO happy that he decided that he didn't like it. I don't think I have ever seen anyone pull off just a mustache well unless they're older, lol.

My dad's beard comes in red too, but he's white as can be with brown hair, so it's not such a contrast there, lol. My cousin's does that too, but he shaves his head because he's balding, so nobody notices that either.
Mo has a closely trimmed beard and moustache. He is like the hairiest guy alive I'm pretty sure and gets a 5 o'clock shadow at like 10 am beyond the lines of his beard. I saw him cleanly shaved ONCE in three years and he looks like he is 12 years old. No thanks. I super hate when he grows out his beard, which he is doing now, for ice fishing. We have a rule...he can do it between Christmas and the derby in the 2nd week of February. It's a looooong 6 weeks.  And Desert, I 100% thought this was a lady-bits post.
    Posted by LivLeighton
Lol, at least it's only 6 weeks though and I have heard that the beards do keep men quite a bit warmer, so I don't blame him.

  • BF can rock the scruffy outdoors look but most of the time he shaves every day. Also, even though he has blonde hair his facial hair is red which for some reason I find very attractive.

  • I couldn't figure out how to describe it - so I posted a pic :)

This was BF and I at a friend's wedding not this past summer, but the one before :)
  • FI has a full-on beard/mustache thing going on and I love it. In the 6 years we've known each other, he has only been completely clean shaven once - for Halloween one year, he was Two Face, so he had to shave so the fake scars and makeup could be cleanly applied to his face. Anyway, he has a very round face, and the facial hair makes him look more evenly proportioned. Plus when he's clean-shaven, he looks like a young teenager. It freaks me out. He keeps the facial hair very neat and trimmed because he has to look professional for work. The funniest thing is that his hair is light brown, but his facial hair comes in reddish. He calls himself Gingerbeard.

  • I like the BF with facial hair, either a goatee or a full beard. Sometimes he gets lazy on the trimming of it, but I still think he's adorable. Clean shaven is okay too, but he has to work awfully  hard to keep the clean shaven look. He's definitely one of those guys with a 5 o'clock shadow...  at noon.
  • FI has CCO's example of a weekend beard.  I love scruff.
  • Steven is usually pretty clean shaven. Every once in a while he'll let a little bit of scruff out (because, even though it hurts like hell when it rubs against my face, I LOVE that scruff look).

I remember once back a couple of months ago, he let it get about a quarter of an inch long and I laughed, so hard. He looked like a mountain man. I mean, it was sexy, in sort of a Paul Bunyan/Bear Grils sort of way, but I prefer him clean shaven or scruffed.
  • Bside:  Once my bf shaved and then walked into the room I was in.  I actually gave a little shriek and jumped under the blankets.  It just caught me off guard and he looks SOOOO different clean shaven.  Still cute, mind you, but I thought he was a different person there for a second.  (I may have been lounging around in my bare skin).
  • I voted clean shaven. My BF can't grow facial hair properly, it comes out patchy and thin and awkward. None of the men in his family can grow facial hair properly, his Grandad still can't grow in a full beard. At 25 BF grows more facial hair than his dad, but it's not a lot. He's quite self conscious about it, but at least it isn't creepy and like 14 year old boy facial hair like his brother has.
  • Cleanly shaven! My BF grew a mo for Movember and it was the longest month EVER. To make matters worse, my office Christmas party was at the end of November. And my bf can't grow a good moustache. Thank god he decided he didn't like having a moustache and feels that devoting 1/12 of the next few years to growing/having one isn't worth it, so he won't do it every year, maybe only every 2-5 years!

  • I selected 5'oclock shadow... but what I REALLY like is BF's face a couple days after he shaves, the "optimal stubble" length where it's soft but not long. If he could keep his face like that at all times I'd be thrilled.

He usually grows out his beard until it itches and shaves it all off. I hate his beard. I'd be perfectly content if he shaved once a week because I'd get the smooth nice face and the optimal stubble every week rather than the once a month that's happening now.
    ******************************************************

  • Sean is scruffy & I love it! He never, ever shaves. He buzzes it every few days. When we went to Europe last year his buzzer didn't work over there so he had to shave with a real razor, it was the 2nd time I'd ever seen him clean-shaven, & it was weird & I didn't like it.  I don't think he'll shave for our wedding.  It wouldn't be him & I prefer him with scruff!

    Here's how I like it:

    And him clean-shaven:

  • Tyler's hair grows super fast, so his 5 o'clock shadow is pretty apparent. I like it from that point til about a day or two later. It usually looks weird in pictures though so he'll probably be clean shaven for the wedding.
    5/27/12

  • "Weekend beard" all the way!  My BF shaved closer than usual once and it was weird to see him like that.  It's funny because I like to change my look often, haircuts, different make-up, no make up, etc.  However, I prefer BF to maintain his look.  That works great for him, because it's the way he prefers to look as well!
