Just thought I would post and say hello.  I just joined the knot and since I'm not engaged yet, I figured this was the best place to start! 

A bit about myself: My name is Alexis, I'm 26 and I live in Chicago.  I recently graduated with my Masters degree in Library and Information science and after a year of searching I found two excellent part time jobs in my field.

My boyfriend Jeremiah and I have been dating almost three years after we met on eHarmony.  We have been living together for just over a year now and have two cats together.  I have a sneaky feeling a proposal might be in the works.  We have openly been talking about it for quite some time, and he's been acting kinda funny lately. 

Anyway, just wanted to say hello!  Hope everyone's Monday is off to a great start.

    Welcome! You sound refreshingly normal and not BSC...that's always a nice change of pace. ;)

    Be sure to read the by-laws (that will keep you up to speed) and stick around! :)

    Well, he has told me that he will definitely ask my dad before he asks me, and last week on his day off (which is company told him to take) they suddenly called him in to do a project about 10 minutes away from my parents house. (we live an hour and a half away from them)  Usually when he comes home from projects we talk about what he did because I'm really interested in his job, but that day he wouldn't really talk about it and was very vague about the project.   Anyway, I asked my mom if he stopped by and I can tell she wasn't telling me the truth when she said no. 

    He also has been a bit odd about his phone and not wanting me to play on it (iPhone) which he has never done in the past. 

    I'm not 100% but I just have a gut feeling.

    If you took away the mother thing, I would say his actions could be construed as borderline shady (particularly the phone thing), but with the whole evasive-mom thing thrown in, I think you've probably got nothing to worry about.

    My best advice to you (advice that will be repeated by board vets) - relax and enjoy this time. The proposal really is one moment you'll never get back. Enjoy the anticipation and the excitement, and relish in the moment. After you get engaged, you have to start planning a wedding, and will likely start threatening elopements. ;)

    Haha....we have already threatened to elope a few times, but hes too afraid of my mother!  (I'm extremely Greek....I'm sure you have seen the movie)

    Thanks Oceana for the advice.  I've been saying the same thing to myself all weekend.

    Welcome. Relax and enjoy spending time with one another. Once you start fretting about when he is going to propose it doesn't make it much fun for you.

    PPS. What is your favorite dish with cheese?
    What are your thoughts on ice rinks?
    What are your thoughts about pandas?
    And about cheap Wine, Mimosas...?

    -I avoid ice rinks at all costs...I made the mistake of going this winter....bad decision.

    Haha...oh Im sure I will.  My father is very much like the dad in the movie.  And my mother has already tried to buy ribbon and favors for the wedding....and im not engaged.... shes bonkers!   I have 21 first cousins and know my 8th cousins so the wedding will be huge....and I wouldn't change a thing!  My poor boyfriend relates to the character Ian so much, luckily he's enjoying learning about my culture and is even thinking about converting to Orthodoxy!

    Bacon in mac and cheese!?!? Holy-geez that sounds delish! My mom makes a mac & cheese with spam and greenpeppers and it's amazing. I'm not a spam person but it's quite amazing with mac & cheese

    ummmm.....bacon in M&C is the best ever.  I mean, its HORRIBLE for you, but it tastes amazing.  There is a restaurant in Chicago (Kuma's Corner) that if you are ever in town should be on your must visit list.  It is famous for its burgers and M&C.  HEAVEN.

    Hi and welcome! That's so awesome that you're a librarian... my mom and grandma are/were librarians, I considered it too briefly and still consider it sometime when I get frustrated with with the school systems here! Anyways, congrats and enjoy your time with your bf! Oh and I agree... Mac and cheese with bacon is amazing, I also love it with chili!
