Race for the Cure (PIP)

2 of my closest girlfriends and I did the Race for the Cure yesterday here in Denver. We had such a blast! The girlfriend in the pic with me (who's still half asleep) lost her mom to breast cancer our senior year of college. We've done the race together ever since. It's amazing how many people showed up this year. You can get an idea in the 2nd pic...see how we make a "ribbon" on the exit ramp??? All the cars were honking in support as they drove past us. I think Denver had either the biggest or the 2nd biggest race in the country last year. My favorite team name this year ways "Saving 2nd Base". haha...I thought is was so creative! So anyway, we did our 5K and then went out for eggs benedict afterward. So nice to support a wonderful cause!

How was everyone else's weekend? Anything fun you want to share??

That is so cool! And that is a TON of people! That's awesome that so many people went out to support the cause and yeah, that is a really cute team name.

I have nothing fun to share. I worked all weekend. I get to go to the zoo this coming weekend though!

It was pretty uneventful -- we went to lunch with Tyler's parents for his birthday yesterday and the girl who is taking care of our dogs when we go on vacation this week came to see the house (she's one of my sister's friends from high school, so the dogs are very familiar with her).

The Nashville Walk for the Cure is on 10/15, but I'm not going to it because we'll have just gotten back from vacation the night before. My parents, Tyler and myself are going to Breathe Deep Nashville, a lung cancer walk, on 11/5. My friend Zola and I went to Miles For Hope (brain cancer) a couple of months ago. As bad as it sounds, I don't do a whole lot of the breast cancer walks and stuff because there is so much support for breast cancer but not a lot for other kinds of cancer. There are so many treatment options for breast cancer that we really don't see a whole lot of breast patients in my clinic (which specializes in refractory malignancies).

Thanks! I hope so too. I haven't been there yet this year. I am just hoping it won't be too cold. The two times we went last year had to be the hottest and the coldest of the year, lol. It makes for some very inactive animals. Still a good time though!

Great job Allusive!!!  Isn't it nice how the community & the cars passing by are so supportive?  That's one of my favorite parts about doing things like that!  My breast cancer walk is SO soon!!  Less than 2 weeks away now!!!!!

The weekend was good overall.  I already AWed my news :)
