Baking Success!

So, I baked me a cake on Friday for BF's mom's b-day dinner. Found a dark chocolate frosting recipe online...and with the cake recipe Polkadot gave me...HUGE CHOCOLATY SUCCESS!!! BF's mom loved the cake and was so excited saying "I can't remember the last time I had an actually birthday cake!" We had so much fun. Here's the pic of my decorated cake. I put some purple flowers on it because purple is her favorite color:

What did everyone else do this weekend? Any good news to share?

Holy cow, Allusive! Look at that piping working! It's GORGEOUS!

This weekend...hm...Andrew and I bought some furniture (See the "Lunar" thread)...

Oh! And it snowed on Saturday, which was SOOOO much fun! I cuddled near the fire and read! We also baked some brie in crescent rolls which was a SUPER easy and delicious appetizer.

Beautiful cake! FI and I got this candy bar for dessert on Saturday:

    It was sooo freakin' good.

My mom, littlest sister and I went to DB so I could try on dresses for the first time. That and the candy bar were the highlights of this weekend. Oh and I had mexican food three times.

omg, that cake looks AH-MAZING! You've got some serious skills there.

I was rained in all weekend. FI and I had a great time on Saturday despite the rain. We went to this place called Firken & Keglers. It's kind of like a Dave & Busters but with bowling. It was super fun and I finally got to meet his brother's wife (mind you, we live in the same state about 45 minutes away lol)

Sunday I spent most of the day sleeping off my second round of sickness, watching football, doing homework and adding a shitton of pins to my pinterest :-)

Lunar: Love the furniture! Can't wait to see it in person in just about 2 week!! eek!!! Oh, and I'm totally stealing your brie rolls for sometime. mmmm...

Jen - Chocolate & dresses? I call that a weekend success story!

Becunning - maybe if we pull off this g2g with lunar and liv i'll make another one to bring!

Ollie - Thanks for the complement! I've never used a piping bag before, so I just had some fun with it. Sorry you were sick, but at least it was good "staying in" weather!

Polkadot - Best.Cake.Ever! I can't thank you enough for the recipe. So easy and got tons of complements!

I'm wicked excited for you to see it, too!

    So...the brie....

chop up some pecans, dried cherries, and a bit of rosemary- a dash of honey and stick that on the top of the brie. Wrap it in the sheet of crescent roll. Bake it according to the package directions and then let it cool for a bit.

    Ta da! SUPER easy!

haha. Between BF and my male co-workers, I think it's pretty much gone. I do still have a ton of frosting in the piping bag in my fridge though...haha
