AW: Not as impressive as Audgie's H's pumpkin...

...but I'm still proud of it! This was my first foray into the land of pumpkin shading, and I'd say it came out fairly well. It's a Hylian shield from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (http://www.sharenator.com/Legend_of_Zelda_1/link_ocarina_of_time_display-116908.html)

Drawing the image on the pumpkin. I don't have a printer right now, so I freehanded that beeyotch. Not bad for not having drawn anything in two years.

In light.

With a candle. It actually glows better IRL, but my camera sucks. I learned a few lessons on thinning the darn thing out before I carve it, though, that's for sure.

I'm not sure what tools more experienced pumpkin carvers use to do the shading thing, but I used a surgical scalpel. Probably not terribly efficient, yet oddly satisfying.

Also, we didn't get even a single trick-or-treater this year. It makes me sad since it seems there are fewer and fewer each year :( And I bought a HUGE bag of candy this year! How many kids came to your houses?

EDIT: Our other pumpkins (behind our fence hence the random lines):

The one on the left is Domo-kun, and the one on the right is that super smiley face you see on the interwebs (http://www.wdfnews.com/wdf_postst9989_What-is-your-desktop-background-right-now.aspx)

I think you did an awesome job! I didn't carve any pumpkins this year....I just couldn't get into the mood.

At my apartments, we usually have about a dozen kids or so that go trick or treating. This year we went to my FSIL's house instead of staying home. I couldn't believe how many kids they had! I'd say there were at least 50 kids who came to their house.

I think you did an amazing job! I've never tried pumpkin shading. I've only done those carving kits they have at the grocery...so you're way ahead of me!
