Makeup SOS

You know how you can go your whole life without noticing something, but once someone points it out, it's all you can think about?

I had never been that conscious of the bags under my eyes until my mom pointed them out over Christmas.  And I've spent the past 3 weeks trying desperately to find a way to conceal them.

But I'm clueless here.  My typical makeup routine consists of a little eyeliner, mascara, and chapstick.  So I've tried purchasing several concealers and foundations, but none of them quite match.  When I'm finished putting it on, I either look like a ghost or I'm orange.  Help?  Tips?  Product recommendations?

This is a great video tutorial:

But you do need to try to find the right color. I'm also a hard to match color, and I have Smashbox concealer that I like. I think the best bet is to hit a Sephora or Ulta where you can try stuff and just keep trying until you find the right color.

<div>Yeah.  :-/  We don't have either of those stores here, but I make trips to New Orleans and Baton Rouge pretty often, so I'll just add that to my to-do list next time.</div><div>
</div><div>The only store here where I can actually sample products is Kohl's, and they carry, like, two lines of makeup.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm glad to know that there is such a thing as a hard-to-match color, though.  I thought I was just being an idiot.</div>

[QUOTE]Maybe a cold teabag to shrink them and some Smashbox photofinish in green to condition and even color under the eyes?  I usually use that instead of a mosturizer, except in winter when I use both.  So smooth and all formulas are not created equal.  The green is very lightweight.

I use YSL touche eclat which is actually a brightener as opposed to a concealer for under my eyes.  It's pricey ($40 at Sephora) but it lasts a really long time since you're only using it under your eyes & it's more than worth it IMO.

If you google it there are a bazillion reviews on Amazon, Sephora, etc. all of them 5 stars or close to it.

Ahh so many suggestions.  I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.  I'll just spend all of my money and try them all.

I have no makeup secrets (because I'm one of those irritating "in-between" colors and most of the time just opt to not wear makeup because it makes my face feel cleaner.

As for the bags under the eyes, I have the same problem. I've tried Olay and Garnier under-eye gels, but neither seem to be doing much good. One thing you could try though (I got this from a makeup guru on YouTube) is to stick some teaspoons in the freezer at night, and in the morning when you wake up, put them over your eyes for a couple of minutes. The cold should help reduce puffiness.

I don't have anything to add to the products list. I think I'm going to have to look into getting some of these products. The other day my FI finally noticed them. His exact words 'it looks like you have two black eyes!' Ugh. Thanks a lot babe.

Yup. I use it every day and I'm still on the same tube. I can grab some at Ulta and ship it to you tomorrow for less than sephora or Ulta will be able to ship.

You're so awesome. How much does a tube of it cost?

If you've got physical BAGS, then hemmerhoid cream will do the trick.

If this is something coverup can fix, then I recommend you get the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle concealer.  That covers EVERYTHING.

I also love the Stila concealer.

THIS!  I use this and love it.  I like using it with a concealer brush.  It never looks dry or cakey.
