Favorite Christmas Candies!

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

My family got up at 8:30 this morning to exchange gifts and finish up the last bit of our contribution to the Christmas dinner (more like lunch) at my grandparent's house, which got me all anxious for Christmas candy. Every year, my grandmother and uncle get together and make a lot of homemade candy and it... is... delicious!

So, in order to keep me distracted until it's time to leave (about an hour from now), I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to food. We all love food. And polls!

What's your favorite holiday treat? Is it homemade or store-bought?

My favorite is my uncle's chocolate-covered potato chips! Sweet and salty at the same time! :) Can't wait to have some!

  • My aunt made a DELICIOUS casserole for breakfast this morning. It had brie cheese, spicy sausage, fresh sage, and Parmesan cheese in it, covered in eggs. It was seriously the most delicious casserole I've ever tasted.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Favorite Christmas Candies! : ,huhgngfxkljfnvs,?!,?!?! You haven't had a thumbprint cookie? Shortcake cookie, when they are warm, you stick a clean thumb in them and make a small indentation. They you put a chocolate kiss or a Reese's mini cup, or my favorite, thick, sweet chocolate or vanilla icing. Some people do jams or other confectionaries for the holidays.

Oh, okay. I've had those before! :) I just didn't know that's what they were called. I've only ever had the ones with jam or Hershey kisses in them, but I bet Reese cups would be scrumptious! :)

  • This thread is making me hungry.

My aunt makes great homemade fudge. She used to go way overboard with trays of homemade treats when we were kids, then they would give us (my brother and cousins) a hard time if we filled up on sweets! She has toned it bit over the years.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Favorite Christmas Candies! : Reese's is definitely H's favorite. I don't make icing ones because I temped at a bakery in a larger metro and that was all I did all day, every day for a month. So the smell of that icing (chocolate creme) makes me a little ill. I wish I could have one now.

Good thing you've got it covered as to what a thumbprint is. Obviously the BEST! I <3 them with icing on top. In fact, I'm going to go eat one right now since my momma has a big stash of them on the counter. NUM.
