WR - Getting the Bar Organized

Since we are getting married on my parents farm we can do the bar ourselves. Which is both fun and stressful because I have no idea how much our nearest and dearest 200 can drink.

We are trying to keep it relatively simple. So far we have vodka (Absolut, Stoli and Skyy....I don't know why FI selected a variety), gin (Beefeater), whisky (Canadian Club and Crown Royal) and rum (Bacardi white and Bacardi gold).

Am I missing anything major?

For mixes, I have listed coke, diet coke, gingerale, tonic, club soda, orange juice and cranberry juice.

Am I missing any important mixers?

You've got all the basic covered, but don't forget things like tequlia, triple sec, vermouth (sweet and dry), cherries, olives, and lemons and limes.

Clicky for a good link to essential bar basics.

I found this link helpful because we get to provide our own alcohol at our wedding venue too.

Allusive - Will definitely have lemon and limes, there are some big gin and tonic people in this crowd :)

    Audgie - Great idea!

Lennon - Thanks! That will definitely be useful!

Jen - That is great! I've been looking for something like that. All the other calculators I had found I had to make judgements on what people would drink or how heavy a drinker they were. This seems so much more simple!

Yaga - Not sure about the beer yet, We will probably have a selection of 4 or 5 kinds and try to combine the American and Canadian favourites. I'd love to have Yuengling, but I've never seen it sold here. Might need to do a trip to New York.

How about some grenadine? You can do a lot of yummy, more fruity drinks with that!

This is why I come to you ladies! I don't really drink fruity things and I need that perspective. All I need is gin, whisky, beer and wine and I'm a happy girl.

We've been debating on whether or not we should have tequila there. Is it a must?

I don't like alcohol, so I don't know much about it, but people were doing Jaeger Bombs at my wedding. I have no idea what prompted it.

One of my coworkers did her own alcohol and bought it in bulk at Costco. They were able to return unused bottles. Is there a Costco or something similar in your area?

I enjoy tequila based drinks, but I think we are avoiding the idea of shots. So we've been debating tequila.

Although, I'm getting a whole education about whiskey. I knew there was different types of whiskey but I didn't realize that what I view was American whiskey is bourbon. So, I guess we will be having bourbon since FI wants to get some Jack Daniels.

Leia - They don't sell alcohol at Costco where I live, but they do in the neighbouring province. The transportation of it could be a disaster though.
