Looking for non-religious reading ideas

Hi everyone:

My fiance and I are having a non-denominational wedding ceremony although the officiant is a friend of my family's who is also a Baptist minister.  We have one reading selected - it is a poem that was read at Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward's wedding ceremony - but we need a second reading and I'm having a hard time finding one.  We don't want anything that is incredibly long and, more importantly, we don't want one that comes from a Bible but I'm not sure where to look.  Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look?  Thanks so much.

  • What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

[QUOTE]We picked readings from our favorite authors. We found them by googling the authors name and love or wedding, to get the right kind of stuff.

<div>We did something similar, we went to Goodreads and looked at the quotes for our favorite authors. Each post is tagged with keywords like "wedding" "love" "marriage" etc. </div>

Thank you so much ladies.  I think I have found a couple that should work and I also found the Irish Blessing included in the thread which we want to incorporate into the reception.  My fiance is Polish so we're doing Stolat for his side but my sister in law (who is our MC) asked me to find something Irish for my family.

    Thanks again.
  • I have a ton that my pastor gave us (we're having a non-religious ceremony as well). I'm not sure how to message people on here but give me some time, when I get home, I'll tell you the titles of them and you can look them up.
