what state to have my wedding in??

Okay so my fiance and I live in Wa and my parents and all my family are in california and all of his family lives in NC but then all of our friends live in Wa. WHAT DO I DO IN THIS SITUATION!!!!!!????

Re: what state to have my wedding in??

  • I would either do WA or have a destination wedding.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I agree with L-

  • WA or CA (presuming that's your home state)

    Vegas.

ETA - that actually wasn't a joke.  Between H & I, we have family in WA, CA, MN, & IA.  Vegas was the perfect choice for us.

  • Have it wherever you and your FI want to have it.

But... according to your planner, your wedding is in January. Of next year. Aren't you cutting it a bit close?
  • I would have it in Washington.  If you wanted to have to somewhere besides CA or NC I would have it in a separate state that means alot to you and your fiancee.  For you that sounds like Washington.

  • Traditionally, the wedding is held in the home town of the bride, hosted by the bride's parents who still live there.  For you, that's CA.

And I know you don't like that answer because you and all your friends live in WA,  But WA isn;t that far from CA, so the friends who can come will come.
  • FI and I live in MA, my family is mostly in NH. FI is from NY and all his family is there. We decided to have our wedding in MA for two reasons. Personally I didnt like the idea of having to plan big trips just to look at venues and vendors. Also, in our case, where we live in MA is just about the halfway point between both home towns.
If youre concerned maybe ask your mom what she thinks about not having the wedding in CA. People will travel to be wherever it is, if youre inviting them to the wedding theyre important to you and im assuming the feeling is mutual. So dont worry about that, just think about where you envision the wedding being or like me, if you want to travel to do the planning. Good luck!
