Is it bad if I don't care how I look?

There's the question...

Is it really that bad?
I've never worn makeup in my entire life...and I don't ever intend to.
I have naturally oily-looking hair, I'm only slighting underweight for my height, and my clothing style is known as "fruits".
Don't know it? Figures.
Fruits is basically where you go into your closet, and find everything that you want to wear, and wear ALL OF IT! ^^
It's fun, and fits me very well.

I commonly dress up a little...
I enjoy the style known as Lolita.
Formal Lolita only, though.

Sounds more and more like I'm just extremely weird. /><
Which I am...

But for many years, I truly didn't care how I looked at all...
Right now, as long as my fiance thinks it's cute, I'll wear it. But I still stay in my own style, which means I only shop at thrift stores, Hot Topic, and my grandma's closet. ^^

But is that really a crime? Especially for someone getting married?
I think it'll just make things...more expensive, complicated, and strange! /><

  • Weird post.

    Nope, not bad at all!
  • definitely weird. I would probably wear at least some make-up on your wedding day so it looks nice in pics, but that is of course up to you. There are a lot of options out there even for those who don't wear make-up at all on a regular basis.
  • This post reminds me of my sister. She likes to think she's really wierd and crazy, and often says "yeah, I know, I'm wierd! Get over it!".. But the fact is, she's really just like everyone else and dresses differently solely for the sake of being different. The fact that your "style" has a name says you care more about your appearance than you're willing to let on, you just care about it in a different way than most.

It's not bad if you don't want to wear makeup or a big poofy dress. Check out offbeatbride.com and the anti-bride wedding planner on Amazon. There's a whole market out there for exactly your type. Whatever you decide to do, it should reflect you and your personality. If that doesn't include makeup, that's your call. You should look like a jazzed up version of you on your wedding day, not like someone else entirely.

  • This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I agree, dress however you want on your wedding day.  In the end you're doing it for you and your FI and there is no need to change for one day.  I have heard that photos may wash you out slightly if you are wearing no makeup, but if you've had photos done without makeup and you like them, then don't worry about it.
  • so go find a wildly awesome fruits wedding gown of colorful crazyness, or a fun lolita dress with a fun crinoline, look like you on your wedding day, honestly if you dress in a subculture then you care what you look like enough to dress a certain way, you just might not care to do all the traditional bride beauty stuff good luck and follow your bliss
  • Exactly the answer I think I was looking for. Thank you. ^^
I always appreciate advice, but I usually just get negative comments and everyone pointing fingers.
    So, thank you again. ^^

  • My senior pictures looked great, even with the majority of my photos having white backgrounds. As long as my pictures stay relatively close-up, they'll turn out better, right?
  • I think it's great that  you have your own sense of style! My only thought is, what are you going to think in 10, 20, 30 years from now? Are you still going to be dressing like you do now? Are you going to look back, and regret not caring? I say it's your one day, be as pretty as you can, and the next morning, go back to your closet and do your thing!
