Going Crazy!

I just started my wedding planning. I've booked a date at a place and all of that is set. However, I don't know where to even start with anything else. Since our wedding is only 5 months away - I had to order the invitations and make the decision on the food choices... ALONE. My fiance is currently serving in Afghanistan and its hard to get in contact with him immediately - so it takes a few days for him to respond via e-mail or txt message/phone call. I feel like I am in this all alone. My family is here to help - but I live an hour away from them, my bridal party & my venue. I am a very particular bride & I am having trouble putting my faith into my family members and wedding party when it comes to delegating issues between me & my venue. I am going crazy - I don't know what to do!

Thats why you join the knot Because we're here to help with that stuff, and there's always someone here.

First of all, use TK check list (or the checklist from weddingwire.com or mywedding.com)

It'll tell you what you should be doing/worry about/etc. but it's not a strict thing.

Do you have a dress? You need to be doing that RIGHT NOW. Seriously. Go. Now.
Ask us for opinions on table settings, cake flavors, favor ideas, etc.

Ps God bless you for being a military wife! Where are you stationed stateside?

I can't imagine all that you're going through making decisions by yourself but like the previous poster said, it's so helpful to have the ladies here for opinions or just to vent. I've seen other ladies on here that are future military wives and I'm positive they can share in your situation. It helps when you don't feel like the only one going through it all.
And join the local board in the city you'll be holding your wedding. I've found that the ladies that are planning in the same area are great for adive on vendors and things relative to that specific location. It's helped me alot to join a local board on here.
And remember, you're wedding is going to be fabulous no matter what, after all, you'll have your guy by your side to share the moments with. Good Luck!

Get your photographer, cake maker set asap.

Is the reception venue also doing the catering? If not, book a caterer asap.

What about a dj or music? That would also be high on the priority list.

Once the main/big things are booked, the rest will fall into place.

Although I am not a military wife, we planned from out of state, it was very hard, but we did it. And tell your FI thank you for serving this Great Nation. God Bless!

Thanks ladies! I am so thankful there is someone out there that gets it! Fortunately for me, my venue comes with the food, cake & all of that stuff. The photographer also comes with the package. The venue refered me to a lot of people that I am making appointments with to see. I am just going to have to figure out how to delegate my time. I am from Pennsylvania, but I live in Delaware. My venue is in Pennsylvania. I go to school & work in Delaware so I basically only have weekends to accomplish a lot since I work all day & attend school at night. It's a stressful situation but I know it will all fall into place & be a beautiful evening.

Make a list of all the decisions and email it to FI, see if he has any major preferences

I had a talk with him & he told me that if I need his help to just ask. He will be home in one month so he's ready to help when he gets home. I guess I just felt a little selfish picking out everything on my own
