A "please don't forget me" list?

I am trying to compile a list of things that I should not forget about for the day of my wedding and reception. I know that I am still a year and 8 months out but I like to be organized and really enjoy lists. What items are on your list?

TIA

  • I really think it is too soon to make your "day of" list b/c so many things could change as far as your plans and what you are including. You're talking almost 2 years from now, after all.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I get your are all excited and stuff, but it's a little silly to make a list 1 year and 8 months out that says:

    PLEASE DON'T  FORGET

    lipstick
    deodorant
    cake server

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Slow your roll- this is so not important right now. If you go crazy with this stuff now, you'll just have to do it again.
  • When I got engaged, I bought a little notebook and I keep it in my purse.  I used it to write down ideas or things that I saw and wanted to remember.  It was really helpful to keep track of things, since I had so many ideas and thoughts running through my head.  I wanted to make sure I wouldn't forget the little things that randomly popped into my head.
    Anniversary
  • You should put on the list:

    'This list'

Not to be rude, but good luck keeping track of it for 20 months.
  • I made a list like this the week before my wedding.  I love making lists, too, so I understand your excitement, but just slow your roll.  There is no way to make a list like that until all plans are firmed up.  For example, maybe you aren't planning to use table runners now, but decide to do them for your wedding down the road.  Or perhaps you put cake topper on the list, and then decide to do cupcakes.  You get the idea.  Make this list in a year and 7 1/2 months.

Although I agree with PP's to a certain extent, your post brings out the organizational freak in me.  While it wouldn't make sense to create a "day of" list so far out, it might be helpful to keep it "in the back of your brain" as you start making plans.

As you commit with vendors, write out their pertinent information (name, address, contact person, phone numbers) on an index card.  Keep these in a safe spot.  Having this "at a glance" contact information will be important to have on the day of the wedding, and easy to tuck away somewhere if they are on small index cards.

As you meet with your photographer, start creating a list of "must have" pictures.  Again, make a list of those pictures, and keep that with your other "index card stash".

Create the list as you go along with your planning.

<div>This! I have a little calender I keep in my purse, and it has ALL the things I need to finish, I even have reminders for the upcoming month, that way I can save money in advance! I do have to say, you are planning pretty far ahead, and I think a fair warning is in order. Plans change all the time! People get sick, they forget things, or they have sudden attitude changes. Just make sure you give yourself a little wiggle room a.k.a. "room for a mistake or two".</div>

  • I always take ..Im really organized and want to get things done now to save myself time.. As ...I'm over excited and trying to do things that don't need to be done for a really, really long time.. Seriously this is a list you can make in less than an hour. I'm getting married in 2 months and haven't even made one yet, and I'm still plenty organized. Slow your roll.

</div><div>This is what I was thinking.  There's a checklist here on the knot.

  • If you like making revisions to lists, by all means, create one. At this point, your list would be more of a 'things I need to get' list.
Mine was pretty simple--rings, marriage license, wedding jewelry. My planner had all the rest of the decor, and the rest of the things I needed for the hotel were basic travel items.

I am less than five months away and I still keep adding stuff. I haven't actually written an actual list.   We just put together a timeline this week after talking to our  caterer and DJ once more.
