oh geezz

Well I'm not sure what to do, I'm so lost! My venue doesn't have my date available and unless I want to wait till a year and a half from now I wont get married where I want to. My father is dragin his butt to go see my dream venue and I'm afraid that I wont get a date. My FI and I are trying to have our wedding asap, so his grandfather could attend (before he passes). We tried so hard to have both his Grandma and Grandpa there but unfortunately his Grandma passed in April. And we don't want his Grandpa to miss this. I don't know what to do. I'm affraid that since my Dad is lagging I wont get the date, therefore my FI Grandfather wont be there to his us get married. I don't want this to be my fault. I'm trying to do everything I could to get this wedding going but I'm starting to really worry. What should I do?

Re: oh geezz

  • What is more important: having grandpa there or having your "princess" day??
  • Take the reigns out of your dad's hands.  Pay for your own wedding and then you don't have to rely on him at all.  Also, like PP said, if it's that important for you to have grandpa there, pick a different venue that you can book when you want it.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

Pick a new date. The world won't explode if you don't get married on that one specific day.

  • Hmmm.  Options? New date.  New Venue. Pay for your own wedding, and then you can be a big girl and make decisions without daddy's help.

  • If your dad's offer to pay comes with strings you don't like, pay for your own wedding.
  • Look I asked for advice not attitude, so next time don't even bother writing! You got excellent advice.  Maybe you are so sensitive because of how clearly she sees through you.

Tide just calls it like she sees it. And BTW you come off sounding like you are about 15 in your posts.

  • And BTW you come off sounding like you are about 15 in your posts. Exactly.  Your dad can't move his butt fast enough to go pay for your wedding.  Spoiled much?
  • I call MUD, not 15.
  • Public forum - you can't control what other people post.  I gave you advice.  If you don't like it, don't take it.  Of course, when your FI's grandpa dies because you had to wait for the "perfect day" and "perfect place" for your "perfect princess dream wedding," don't come crying to us.

  • Pick a new venue or pick a new date that your desired venue has available.  Book the venue without using dad's money; you can pay for it yourselves.  Or wait a year and a half and risk his grandpa passing on.I'm not quite sure what the problem is, seems like a pretty simple decision to me.  If it's that important that grandpa is around, then figure out a way to do the wedding sooner rather than later, whether it's your dream venue or not.
  • Tide (and everyone else) gave you great advice.  It's not her fault you don't like being told how bratty you are. What is more important here: having grandpa at your wedding or having your wedding at your dream venue? THAT is a no-brainer.  I'd do anything... ANYTHING... to have my grandparents around for my wedding day. So guess what chickpea, if you force your FI to wait a year and a half to get married so you can have your dream wedding at your dream venue and grandpa dies in the meantime, it WILL be your fault that he didn't get to see the wedding.  If I were your FI, I'd be pissed as hell.Grow up.

  • KA - Any reason as to why my repeated emails from this weekend have yet to be answered?  Or do you only answer emails from people that make asinine threats?

  • I, too, would like to know the answer to tide's question.

  • Maybe she was referring to Jessica, after all, she was the one being rude to Tide.Tide gave useful advice.

  • Are you kidding me? Are we in preschool now?
  • Apparently so, georgia, apparently so.

  • My grandparents died several years ago.  If they were still alive but in declining health, there wouldn't even be a question in my mind about what to do.   I see your options as this: 1) Pick a new venue that is available on the date you want so grandpa can be there 2) Pick a new date (but relatively soon) at your dream venue 3) Pay for your venue yourself so you don't need your father to go see it first.4) Take the first available date at your "dream venue" and risk the face that your FI's grandfather may pass away before the wedding. For myself, I honestly can't see how you can even entertain the idea of #4.  Family is everything to me.
  • I would also loev to see the answer to Tide's question.  I've emailed repeatedly, for the last few weeks, and have yet to get a reply from anybody.
