Ask a bride/wedding photographer anything

I'm only twenty years-old but I've been working with a local photography studio for three years. I shoot weddings, sports, and anything else that needs pictures. I'm in the middle of my schooling right now. I've completed two years of college with two more to go and I have an AA in journalism to show for it thus far. I've done many weddings and if a job for a magazine or a newspaper doesn't work out I plan to open my own studio where I will probably shoot more weddings. I'm getting married on November 14th to my boyfriend of six years. Ask me anything.

Re: Ask a bride/wedding photographer anything

  • Are you aware of the rule that says vendors can't post anything about working in the wedding industry?  That includes photographers.  Good luck with your wedding, but posts like that could get you banned.
  • Okay, here's my question:  how does it feel to be reported?
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Honestly, I wasn't aware of that rule. I just thought to help brides with working with their photographers. I wanted to talk about my favorite pictures to shoot, what I want to have done at my wedding, and offer inspiration to other brides who can consult with their photographers and be able to tell them exactly what they want for their big day.I'm not selling the studio I work for I just want to give advice. In the future when someone offers you help, don't be so harsh.
  • Hey, not being harsh - just letting you know that you could be banned for posts like that.  If you want to talk to brides about photographs that's fine, you just can't say that you do wedding photography yourself.  Defensive much?
  • 12percent, no one was harsh with you.  Those are the rules.  Please feel free to post about your own wedding, but talking from a vendor's perspective will get you banned.  It's happened before to a very well-known and well-liked regular poster on the boards.
  • I am in the minority here, I took it as she is a photographer and if you have any questions or want any ideas for pics, then ask her... Since she did not list where she works or other contact info, I didn't take it as advertisement.. she just listed her background to let people know what it is..  Good luck on your wedding planning 12percent...
  • It's not really up for interpretation.  If she wants to post here, she can't talk about being a wedding photographer, even if she's not soliciting sales.  Period.  That's the rules.  I don't make them, I just enforce them.
