What will happen if I can't find my marriage license for the ceremony?

I had the marriage license at my parents house because my father picked it up for me. I looked in the area where I put it...and I can't find it! What will happen if I can't find it before my ceremony?

If your wedding was in the church in which I work, you wouldn't have a ceremony.  The minister MUST have the license in order to legally marry you.  If a couple doesn't bring the license, there's no wedding.

contact your county clerk or whoever issued it to find out what to do about a replacement.

Well, considering your wedding is TODAY, I certainly hope you found it! No license = no ceremony Even if you are having a non-religious ceremony and your officiant agrees to go through the motions, you still aren't married until that paper is signed. Go back to the place it was issued and see what you can do. Good luck!

You won't be married. Period. You can't have a legal marriage without a marriage license. I would be tearing that house upside down. I'm surprised the courthouse let him pick it up for you. Here, they only release it to the couple getting married. If you're getting married today, unless your county has Saturday hours (unlikely), you're probably SOL.

There is something seriously wrong when brides can't forget tissues for bathroom baskets, but lose their marriage license... I've heard of this happening too much lately.
