matron of honor

hey - matron of honor here - just wondering if there's another term for it seeing as the word matron sounds way too stuffy to me. Also - the bride is having a matron of honor and a maid of honor - just curious if others have done this and how it's worked out...

Re: matron of honor

  • I had both and it was fine, its actually very common. Matron usually refers to married and maid unmarried. HTH

  • Yea I am having too. My sister is the matron and my best friend the maid.  Works out well because they have known each other for years too.  I've heard its common too, so no worries.  Just think you'll have a guaranteed helper for all the work you have to do.
  • my SIL had both, and I honestly didn't know that a Matron of Honor just means they are allready married, I just thought if you want to have two, one is called Maid and one Matron! haha, silly me. I don't think anything is weird about it!
  • I have both. The Matron, however, is the one that has stepped up and hosting the shower/bachelorette party and stuff. The Maid does not mind. She is not sure what to do anyway.
  • I only have two bridesmaids and both have the title of MOH, except my sister is married and so she's considered the Matron of Honor, and my best friend is the maid.  It's working out great so far.
