Baby Fever?!

Is anyone else getting baby fever?? As the wedding gets closer and more of my friends are getting prego I am finding myself wanting to be in their shoes. I keep reminding myself to enjoy the process of being engaged, then married, THEN baby....but it is still on my mind....anyone else feel like this?
(just as a note I am 26 and hubby to be is 30, so we are ready for a little one we just want to be married first)

Re: Baby Fever?!

• My wedding is farther out from yours, and I even feel that way. I am getting anxious for it all, but we want to be married first too. The main goal really is for me to fit in my dress lol!! I'm sure it will get tougher as it gets closer.

• I'm the opposite, actually. Yes, I want kids, but I have zero desire to be pregnant or birth a child.
• I have it pretty bad. I'll be married at 29 and really don't want to wait very long to start trying. However, FI wants to "wait a few years". I think this is making my baby fever much worse. My brother( only 26) is on his second kid which only adds to my fever.
Plus my doc says I really can't wait (health concerns) so there is a large chance that I may never have a baby if I do wait as FI wants.

So yeah, I'm almost in tears whenever I see a baby at this point!

I keep thinking: wedding first, wedding first, then I can start pushing for a family! No need to worry now, I guess.

• Yeah, I have it, too. But H wants to wait a few years and just enjoy being married for now. Besides, we would like to have a house and be settled where we want to live.
• I'm the opposite. Everyone is asking us when we're going to have kids, and it puts me a little on edge. I wish I could just rip out the plumbing and adopt when we're ready, but DH wants at least one biological child. *sigh*

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
• Me too! I'll be almost 28 and the FI almost 30 by the time we're married next fall. It's pretty recent for me... but everything I go shopping I seem to find the cutest baby stuff! Ahhh... one day at a time, right?!
best day ever! Photobucket Anniversary
• I think my biggest motivation is fitting into my dress and looking great on my wedding day (and in the photos, because they last forever!) I keep telling myself that no part of me wants to be swollen, nauseous and tired on the big day! Plus it will be nice to let both things be separate and be celebrated each life changing event in itself. I feel lucky, my FI has baby fever more than I do, so I know as soon as the wedding bands are on… the baby making will be on too! Patience is a virtue…that I would really love to have…right now! J

• I have it! We will both be 32 when we get married next year and a lot of my friends/family are on their 2nd or 3rd babies right now. It's in the water! lol So it's on my mind for sure! FI says maybe we'll wait a year. Um, no thanks! lol
• When I walk through the stores, and see baby stuff I kind of feel like. FI is more the one with baby fever, though. He wants to be a father so bad, but I keep telling him we need to wait. Financially, and mentally. I don't think I have enough patience yet for a baby.

• I definitely have it too! A lot of my friends either just had babies or are pregnant, but it's nice to be able to spoil their babies then give them back Smile

FI and I are nowhere near ready for a baby, we can barely take care of ourselves! I'm 24 and still finishing school so financially we are not close. FI is almost 29, his brother has 2 kids and a lot of his friends have kids and he's had baby fever since before we were even engaged (a year and a half ago, when I was only 22!). I have to keep reminding him (and myself sometimes too!) that we're not ready and I want to be married at least a year before we have kids!

We're currently 26, and originally said we would wait to be married at least a year before discussing TTC.

Well, it's going to be a year on Saturday, and neither of us has the slightest interest right now. We're really enjoying being able to spend our money however we want, and being able to do things like "Spontaneous Date Night" without having to worry about baby-sitters.

Maybe we'll change our minds in another year or 2? ~shrug~
I would love to have a baby. But the responsible side of me tells me to wait atleast 2-3 years.. FI wants to have his Jeep paid off ($650 a month!) before we start adding on to our monthly/weekly bills. :/
Posted by katheriner89
I'm new here on this board--I stay around my local state board and my wedding month board--but want to venture out. :)

That in bold makes me wanna CRY!!! I want a Jeep next...commander or patriot. My car honda civic I LOVE it was my first car but its getting many miles on it and its small for a family car. I took out a refiance on it so I'm still paying it off. It will be paid off after the wedding!!! But we need a 2nd car. FI's car is almost twice as old as mine. So he will need something soon.

So I have baby fever really bad. My friend has 2 kids (5 & 2) already and I wish my kids would grow up with hers but my goddaughter will be most likely in school before I get an infant. My cuz just got married we are really close in age. Both her and her hubby have baby fever and we always wanted our kids to be close in age. FI and I had to push the wedding back a little longer than we wanted for many reasons. I really want to save up a lot before having a kid b/c I know how expensive they will be. On top of that I want to start my kid in a local private school at age 3. Another friend has a 9month old and so that has spiked my fever more. FI has baby fever more than I do. I told him its not going to be long for now we need to enjoy this time AND save as much as we can.

I have been engaged prior to meeting FI and I always pictured myself with a little one at this age so its quite depressing sometimes!!!
• Yeah, I totally get the baby fever thing...I just turned 27 and since we're looking into buying a house this time next year, I'll be at least 28 before we can even start thinking about it. It's weird because I've spent my whole adult life trying not to get pregnant and now it's odd to think that for the first time it wouldn't be the end of the world if it did happen. It doesn't help that my mom and grandmother like to remind me from time to time how early menopause (mid-30's) runs strongly in my family. At least FI is on board--the other day instead of saying "no babies!" he leaned over and asked what we would name a little girl! It was exciting and a little frightening all at the same time...
• Two of my close friends just had babies within the last two months. I think about it, but I honestly don't feel as financially stable. I'm 29, will finish my Masters by age 30 and will be married by 30. Even then, I would like to start TTC but I'm having a difficult time figuring out how I would raise a child and focus on a career. I know many, many women do it and I respect them for it, but i'm just finding it hard to plan everything myself (ex: who will babysit? How will I have time to feed a child when I barely have time to make meals for myself and FI?). I might have to go hang out at the Bump and figure out how everyone else is doing it.

• I've definitely got baby fever...it hit me out of no where. I went from wanting no babies EVER to secretly hoping every month. UGH! My fiance wants one, too, but not right now. But still...we have a name picked out and everything for when it does happen!

We had a "scare" just a few months ago. At the time, we both kind of reacted like "Okay, so this is what we'll need to do" instead of "OMG, OUR LIVES ARE OVER!!!!!!"

This is going to sound weird, but the fact that we reacted so "calmly" to it scared the living sh!t out of me.

I've got the fever, and FI wants to start TTC right away, so I've only got a few more months to wait.

This. I will be 25 at our wedding next summer and ideally want to wait until I'm 30 to have a child. I do want kids, but first I want a dog. And I want to travel. And just enjoy being married. But I like playing with friends' kids if that counts :)

• I actually just found out today that yet another of my friends is pregnant. This makes four currently pregnant, plus three with children under 18 months. It kind of makes my uterus shrivel up in terror.

• I've got the fever, and the only cure is more cowbell! :) But seriously, I do. Almost all of our friends are pregnant or already have a child. FI also does and wants to try for a honeymoon baby, but because of my job I'd like to wait to TTC until the summer. I'm a teacher so it makes sense to try and concieve in June and have a baby in March, that way I can have 6 months off of work and still get paid for 3 of em in the summer! The perks of teaching :)

I do think that we could be better off financially but hey, you can always be better off right? We both have jobs, I have my Master's, we own a house and we can pay the bills with some left over at the end of the month. So I'm ready to go and get a little bun in the oven!

I don't think I have a biological clock. It's never ticked. Not once.
