When is your bachelorette party?

My fabulous moh has offered to throw me an equal fabulous bach party which I am so grateful and excited for. She did ask me WHEN I was thinking I wanted to have it and I said 2-3 weeks before the wedding. However it looks like she's planning it for the weekend before the wedding. I'm worried for a couple of reasons... What if I still have a ton of stuff to do that weekend? Two of my bmaids work in restaurants and depend on those Saturday nights for a part of their income, I feel weird asking them to take off 2 in a row. Am I worrying too much? Is it rude to ask my moh for a different weekend when she's going out of her way to throw this special party for me? Thanks in advance for your kind input!!!! Laughing

Re: When is your bachelorette party?

  • I can understand your concern and while the host ultimately gets to decide when to throw it, perhaps let her know your concerns with throwing it the weekend prior to your wedding. I dont think your reasons are selfish or anything, so I don't think it'd be rude to express.

Also, maybe ask her if she's already talked to your other BMs about taking that weekend off. If they want to and can take it off, they will.

Try not to stress about it though. It's supposed to be fun and will work out one way or another.

  • Mine is the weekend before as well, and we are leavnig the country! I was stressed, but it's the only weekend people could do it. I'm just making sure most things are done before we leave on our cruise. Regardless, try to relax and have fun, that's what it's for!

  • My MOH asked and I told her 2 weeks out would be better. You may just need to have a chat... if the planning is in its early stages, she may still have time to change the date.

  • Since she asked for your input, I think it is ok to share your concerns with her about the date. Maybe she already spoke with your other BMs? My b-party is about three weeks before my wedding.

Mine was the weekend before.  I didn't have any problems with the people not coming just because of work but then again I don't have any friends that have jobs like that.  Just talk with your MOH about it.

I wasn't too happy to take time off for the showers, b-party, and RD but I did it because this is just once in my life.  I needed the income but I wanted to enjoy everything...hopefully your gals will look at it the same way.  And I think its considerate what you are doing.

  • Mine was the weekend before b/c my MOH was out of state and she was planning it.  I didn't want her to have to be here any longer than that.
  • Well, mine is going to be 2 days before, but that's just because we're getting married in Vegas, and we want to have our parties there, and that's when our friends will be there. Otherwise I'd totally want 2 weeks before. 2 big weekends in a row can be a bit much!

  • I did mine before the holidays. With other peoples jobs, kids and wedding expenses we decided it was better to get it out of the way. It worked out great!

  • From my vague planning right now with my bridal party, my bachelorette party will be the weekend before the wedding. We might do it 2 weekends before, but since I'm having a destination wedding, we're waiting to figure out some other details before we officially plan.
