What are your worst wedding planning frustrations?

I'm at an early stage of planning. Currently, I frustrated by how long jewelers take to answer e-mails.

Re: What are your worst wedding planning frustrations?

  • Are you writing an article or a book or something?  Why are all of your posts either polls or really specific questions like this one?  I'm getting suspicious.
  • Karen- are you shopping or hopping?

  • Karen. question for you:

Is your screen name karen shopping or karens hopping?
  • I'm not answering, until you answer MY question: WTF are you doing?!

    I'll bite.

I never felt the need to email any jewelers. So no, I don't find jewelers frustrating at all.  What are you emailing them about?

Why are you emailing jewelers? I looked around, found a ring I wanted, had it sized, they took my order and had it sent out to be made. I have a size 3 finger so unfortunately everything has to be made for my size. But with that whole sizing mess I still never had to email a jeweler.

Have we really left the era oh phone calls? Seems to me thatd be easier than waiting on an email...

  • I can't think of a reason to email a jeweler. Can anyone else?
  • Well, I don't know about all these polls either, but to answer your question Sarah- I did actually email a jeweler back and forth several times because I used my great-grandmother's ring as my engagement ring (fiance proposed with the original). But it was really old so we had it put in a new setting with the same diamond arrangement...they had to custom make it so they sent me emails with pictures of what it would look like and I had to ok it before they made it..

My first thought was she's doing research for a jeweler....but that doesn't explain all the other random polls.

Questions about antique rings, especially resizing said rings or metal contents.

<div>Nope. I called, dropped off, called again, picked up, and called it a day.</div>
  • Obviously people missed my post? They emailed me pics of the ring render before they cast it. I wouldn't go into the jeweler to look at something that would look exactly the same in an email. There was no physical ring yet.

  • Our issue was that our reception venue changed hands 3x from the time we booked the place to the time of our wedding. I felt like a broken record giving the info over and over. And the first 2 people were terrible at keeping records, but it was a good thing I had everything and I held them to the prices they quoted me originally.
  • I'd just be more inclined to call or go in myself.

Nope. Didn't miss it. But that's not your usual visit to the jeweler either. i would call that more of an exception.

  • OP, to answer your question, the lack of communication with our cake lady and the country club organizer. I send either of them an email, which they've both said is their preferred means of communication, and it takes OVER A WEEK for them to respond. C'mon people. I feel, that for as much as we're paying them, they should be responding within a reasonable 48 hours.

  • I'm thinking also that she's writing a book, or a blog, or something.  It's just weird to come on and post all sorts of questions, but never post on any other threads.

So is a book, or a research paper, or a newspaper or magazine article?  Hmmmmm.

  • I'm frustrated with the cost of things that I didn't think cost as much as they do...

  • Actually, my fiance emailed a jeweler multiple times.  He sent pictures of the rings I liked and also got the information about the diamond via email.  I wanted a particular cut of diamond that was only available from certain stores so driving to the store was a little inconvient if you just wanted to see the stats of a diamond that was recently available.

My issue is I've spent the past 8 months planning and dreaming of my upcoming October wedding.... and now it isn't happening.

    How's that for frustration?
