WEDDING PLANNING GUIDES/BOOKS

Hey Ladies,
I am newly engaged, we havent set a date yet due to my fiance planning on enlisting in the military. We plan on doing the justice of the peace first for paper work so I can travel with him whereever he is stationed. However we do actually want to plan a reall wedding a year - year and half out.... Anyways, I am looking for some reccomendations of planning books/ guides preferrably more for the couple that is paying for the majority of it.... something with good budget tips/DIY advice.... even a few different books that you all have found helpful and worth the money.

I am with Grits. Your real wedding is the day you become legally married. It sounds like you are planning a vow renewal .

You can ask questions here and on the local boards. I have not needed to pick up a planning guide yet since there is so much information online.

  • My favorite book was The Knot book of Wedding Lists. It broke down every aspect of wedding planning into simple lists about what questions to ask vendors, how to figure out what you need and how much for your type of wedding with room to check things off and write notes. I liked it because it was direct and too the point. I found it on amazon for like 10 cents!
  • well thanks for all tips... after some bad news about enlisting he has decided to proceed with his first choice of the fire academy.(kinda relieved) Untill March he resides in Cali then will moving to AZ with me. I am making a trip to visit him in the next few weeks, his mother is going to be helping me get a date set and start the ball rolling on wedding planning(as I dont have a relationship with my mother) I can not wait to go look at dresses and all the vendor info she has collected for me. I will def look up some books and I like the idea of making my own wedding planner... I like to be creative anyhow....
If any one still has any info on books/planners ect please feel free to post!!
