Photography HELP!

Hi all - I live in CT, so things around here aren't the cheapest, just wondering what you all think is a reasonable wedding photography price. I have gotten the ranges $4000 to $5000, it sounds like a lot but I guess you get what you pay for and I don't want to go cheap on photos. Most packages include an engagement session, six to eight hrs of photography on the day depending on the photographer, a second shooter, and one or two meets not including the engagement session, as well as a CD with all the proofs, and some include an album.
Any recommendations for photographers in CT?
Is this too much money???

My photography budget was 3000, and I live and am getting married right smack in the middle of Dallas. It was fairly easy to find photographers in all ranges. One thing that helped was just to find ONE in my price range and contact them, and if they are booked I always got lots of referrals. Most of the photographers I interviewed came from referrals of others in their price range.

I am also going through the same thing...the price range is actually very decent for a full wedding coverage. I think that the pictures is not an area you want to cut back on because those pictures will help enhance the memories of your big day...pictures are trully worth more than 1000 words
My photographer her in DC is about 6000 so i think that your deal is pretty awesome so long as it comes with an album, full coverage of your day, engagement pictures, and website..

I am a photographer. Don't let someone take you over. That is too much. 3,000 is decent and still a little steep. Go on Craigslist. look at their portfolios. If you see something you like get the price. I found an excellent photographer he is just started out on his own but has a great portfolio. $750 for 5 hrs. I was so happy for this. Look around. you'll find something. Don't rush.

Also ask if the photographer will give a discount if you print his logo and website on programs or put the business cards in your favor bags.
