Re: Birth Control

  • I am on the depo shot and i just got my second shot a couple days ago...i got my first shot the day after i stopped  my period and i haven't had my period since. Also a nurse is on the shot also and her periods stopped right away. I used to be on the pill but it was hard to remember to take it every day after about a year or 2 of taking it i thought it would be routine but no.

I gained a little amount of weight on the pill and have gained more weight on the shot but i have had LOTS off injuries and haven't been able to go to the gym for months and iv been stressed so im sure thats what is causing most of my weight gain. But on the shot i know a few people who stopped their period after the first shot so its nice!

You should swell up within a month. hehehe im sure you will be fine

  • I would wait until after your wedding to start the pill. It affects everyone differently - some more than others. I gained a little bit of weight (about 8-10 pesky pounds that refused to go away for about a year). But what I noticed were the emotional affects. I was constantly upset, tired, depressed - all completely normal said the doc while I adjusted to the pill. If you look at the list of severe side effects, suicide thoughts is listed along side "cramps and depression."To be really blunt, it also affected my periods in a very annoying way. I tried to skip my period and ended up having a month-long one. I felt like my body was out of control for about 2 months. I went through 3 different pills before I found one that didn't transform me into a pms machine.
I'm also very sensitive to hormones and medicine, so my example might not be the best...but it can happen!
Basically, you are putting a lot of hormones into your body, and those hormones are going to affect the way you feel, both emotionally and physically. Unless you've been on BC before and now how it will affect you, I would wait until after your wedding to start that chaos.

It varies greatly depending on which form of birth control you decide to go on. I have used the pill before which was fine however then decided to have the Implanon inserted into my arm. I had it two weeks ago after 2.5 years of having it in. I have gained 3 stone and ended up suffering with periods lasting 3 weeks. My libido was also very low, I would certainly not suggest trying this! Since having it out I feel like a whole new person!

Voice your concerns before settling on anything and they should be able to make recommendations to you. I however agree with another poster, it may be better to wait until after the wedding if you are that concerned!

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Birth Control : I tried this once when my FI and I went away..it didn't work.  It delayed my period for like a day and then came and was actually worse.

</div><div>Some types of BC won't work, it completely depends on what you're taking. I purposely switched mine to a type that would let me do this and it works great</div>
