Latisse

Hello ladies!

Has anyone ever used the generic brand Lumigan for Latisse? If so what was your outcome or side effects?

I understand the difference between the cost of a unversal brand drug name versus a generic brand, but I want to know if anyone has actually used Lumigan for eye lash growth and had the same desired outcome.

[QUOTE]Personally, I would never use a product that's side effects include skin discoloration and possible vision problems just to get the same effect I can get by wearing mascara.

  • Uh, no. I would not use a glaucoma drug when I don't have glaucoma simply to have longer eyelashes. That is just stupid.

  • I have to agree with pp. I just don't get it.

  • I have no idea how true this is, amongst all of the side effects, I've heard that using Latisse can cause your actual eye color to change. If this is actually true, then I'd assume that was definitely a potential side effect of the generic.

As vain as it is (Although, if you're taking a glaucoma drug just for better eyelashes, I guess vanity is a sufficient reason), I just would never risk my eye color being permanently changed for something I could fix with the right mascara or by donning fake lashes.

  • I guess that's not somehting you do, but it's very common in LA. The question was more about generic brand name vs. universal. People do it all the time when they purchase ibuprophen instead of motrin/advil.

Vanity has a price, of course it does! It's about $150 with a dernmatology MD prescription, the generic is $40 without a RX. Yeap, believe it or not this is not a foreign topin in LA.

Again if anyone has actually tried out the generic, I would love to hear about your experience.

    Thanks for your input.

    PS
    Thanks Chicago
  • I am a beauty therapist (in New Zealand) and have seen and measured (using individual lash extensions) the growth my clients have had with various lash growth products. Latisse has had amazing growth, or course, but it is around $250 here. Revitalash has also had really great growth (3mm in about 2 months, which doesnt sound like much, but it is). I have also had a client use Designer Brands "lash food" which was about $20 and she got about 2mm growth and a lot thicker lashes also.
I personally wouldnt use latisse because of cost and side effects, but the others are vitamin A/retinol based, which I use anyway on my skin, and they are cheaper.
All you can do is give it a go! Take a photo first, and give it a few months try.
  • Wow you're so knowledgeable Tesskerr Kiss thank u! You know Latisse cost $150 here in California, 3ML goes a long way b/c of the way it is applied. I know it totally works, but I guess I wanted to be froogle and buy the generic name brand which is Lumigan/bimatropost 0.03%, that one cost $40. I understand you can get a rash with either one though, I also read that the thinner the applicator the less side effects you will have b/c it's only applied to the eyelid.

I took notes on your valuable information, I will look into that lash food, revitalash, and vitamin A/retinol right away

    Thanks again!
