I could use some advice. I know that in the past few weeks there have been quite a few discussions on Mexico on Honeymoon, and I do not want to get flamed, but I could really use some nonbiased opinions.
My best friend is getting married in Monterrey Mexico in a few weeks. My FI is not coming with me, because he is an accountant (tax season) and it is really expensive for me to go. I will be picked up by my BF's FI (who lives in Monterrey) at the airport and then spend a few days with my BF and her FI at FI's home. A few days before the wedding, a bunch of our other friends are going to be getting into the city, and we'll be in a nice hotel. We have decided we aren't going to leave the hotel alone, we aren't going to leave after night period (although the reception isn't at the hotel, but we will use the hotel's shuttle) and all of us have traveled internationally and are pretty street smart when it comes to traveling.
There have been 110 people killed there since the begining of 2011, but they are not targeting women/foreigners. The biggest problem is, my FI is worried sick about me going. Like literally, he is driving himself crazy. He says its not worth it to throw away our future on her wedding day. But this is my best friend. Has anybody been to that area recently (My bf goes down there quite a bit since her FI lives there and I was slightly annoyed when she told me that she doesn't feel safe.)? What would you do?
