I am looking for ideas for an AWESOME THANK YOU gift for my parents. I do not come from money...my entire family is middle class. I make good money but it goes towards the costs of living so i really dont come out with much once bills are paid. When we began planning our wedding, we set a 6,000 budget. There was only one thing that i really wanted in my wedding since i was a little girl. That was the venue. The Cloisters Castle in Baltimore. My finace and i went there and priced it and found out that even in an off month, it was over 3,000 bucks. I told my parents about it. A few days later, my parents cut me a check for the full amount of cloisters(which because it was the full amount, we got about 600.00 off). I was so overwhelmingly grateful that i didnt know what to say. Then another bump in the budget road. Cloisters requires the renter to utilize a caterer from a list of about 25. As i called around for prices, i quickly learned that its VERY expensive...even for the cheapest. The cheapest for about 100 people was about 8,000.00. When i told my parents, what happened??? A few days later, they came with a check. (Which once again we recieved discounted rates) I really dont know how to thank them because thank you just isnt enough. They are allowing me to have the wedding of my dreams and i am just in awe at their actions. When i tell them, "no, you guys have paid for way too much." They just say, no...we want to do it. Youre our little girl. I know that my parents dont just have 10,000+ to give away for a wedding. So i know that they are somehow cutting corners in their own lives to give me the wedding that ive wanted as a little girl.....so how can i thank them???? Please help.
