Back story: I woke up on July 1st to pay some bills only to find out that 2 of my accounts were over the limit by hundreds of dollars! 1st step, scream and wake FI and throw hissy fit. 2nd step, check the safe where both cards are locked up only to find they are still there. 3rd step, call Card Company A then Card Company B. Both companies told me that someone would call be back with a representative from The Fraud Department.
CCA calls me back and works everything out and removes the charges after an hour and a half on the phone under the one condition I'd provide police report because Identity Theft is a crime. Ok, done. No problems.
CCB doesn't call back. I call the next day, same story. The following day, same story. Now I'm peeved! After a week CCB gets back to me in the form of a packet that I have to fill out. And so I did. I sent it in, and watched my account for two weeks. Charges were not removed. So I called and threatened with a lawyer. Charges were removed.
Present day: Got a letter in the mail from CCB stating that "due to my geographical area and the presentation of valid merchant receipts" they could not prove the charges fraudulent! To top it off, the latter also states that I "failed to submit the required request for investigation into fraudulent charges." Bull hockey! I sent that packet in the day I got it! So now, $672.89 in fraudulent charges are revolving on my account. CCB, prepare to meet my lawyer!
