Some background....My fiance and I have gone into planning our wedding with the idea that we were going to save the money and be able to pay for everything up front- no loans! We have run into several financial issues and had to push the date back twice because we weren't going to be able to afford it. Now we are hoping to get married May 7, 2011. The idea was a ceremony and reception at the Brookfield zoo. Ceremony of 12 people and Reception of 65 people. The cost is about $3500.
Again we are finding that we hit another road block and will not be able to afford it at that date. He desperately doesn't want to push it back a third time. We've looked at cheaper locations but I don't want to settle for less than what we want for our big day. He can't get approved for any more loans. I have great credit but have soooo many loans already I can't bear the thought of another one. Plus we can't afford the strain of another monthly payment.... My fiance is also exploring the idea of skipping the reception, but I'm not thrilled with that option either.
So.... Are we crazy thinking we can do it loan free? Do we settle and do the cheaper idea? Do we do the ceremony at the zoo and skip the reception to cut costs? Do we push it back again? Soooo discouraged! Please help!
