Are you having a Fall/DIY/Budget wedding?

I am!  My "vision" for my wedding is just a big laid back party, rustic and classy but comfortable.  So I'm looking to see if there are any other chicas sharing my vision, I'd love to chat about ideas etc.  Thanks!

  • Your best bet would be to visit your club board (month and year), the DIY board, or the Budget board.  I think those gals will be the most help.  Good luck!

  • I have a similar vision... though I'm August, so not quite fall.

I love the rustic idea!  We're definitely incorporating that in our details, especially with a lot of candles and lanterns.
  • Mine is all three! I'm also going for a rustic but classy feel but really want to just have a great party that friends and family will have a great time at and remember. The budget is about $6,000 for our Oct. 30th wedding. I would like to do submerged dark calla lillies with floating candles and mini-pumpkins rolled in powder glitter as centerpieces. I also want to do a candy buffet with traditional halloween candy since its going to be the night of trick-or-treating.

  • vgmartinez: 6k is an impressive budget!  Ho are you pullng that off? How many people are you having at the wedding?  We hope invite about 130 and our budget is 12k, I'd love to cut it down even more then that tho.
  • Meeeee...We are getting married 9/19/10.  We are doing a rustic classy theme to tie into our winery venue.  I am definately a DIY and budget bride.

  • Fall and budget bride over here too! We are goint to have it outside since that is what he wants (thankfully fall in TX isnt that bad). I also changed an accent color from pick to orange to match the airplane safety card that you find in the pocket  in front of you on the airplane (it is sighned by our friends who were at the proposal). I am going to have it framed and at the guest book table. So now I guess it will look much more like a fall wedding then with pink.

10/2/11 is our date and our budget is 10k. Although a huge chunck of that budget is going to be spent on the photographer (we just can't live without her).

  • All of the above!  We used vases full of chestnuts and curly willow for our centerpieces, and lots of fall leaves everywhere for decor.
  • We are cuttting back a little on some extras like fancy chair and table covers. We'll do cloth-like table covers and do a tulle bow on the chairs. FI's tux and our invitations are free since we had 5 paid tux rentals. Here's a breakdown of our budget:

    $1,000 - photographer
    $500 - videographer
$1500 - Catering/cake included (the owner of the restaurant makes cakes as a hobby so she's throwing that in for us).
$500 - limited open bar with beer, wine and softdrinks.
    $650-DJ
$500 - reception and church decor
    $200-favors/candy buffet
    $100 - Invitation postage
$200 - BM and GM gifts
$600 - my dress and accessories

I'm not counting things like flowers, venue rental and rehearsal dinner since our parents are helping with those. That brings our budget up to about $7,000.

  • i've only just begun planning, but we are looking for fall/budget. we are doing a "real" reception, but with the basics provided, and favors etc are going to be made by us.
  • me/me/me! I got married last year in October. I have pics in my bio, and my budget was around $6K as well. Good luck!
  • Yes, Yes, and Yes.

My wedding is October 15, 2010.  We're on a budget, because we're old and broke.  LOL  I'd say we'll probably end up spending around $5,000.  And if you had asked me back in October when we got engaged, if I'd spend THAT much, I would have told you NO!  But, it looks like that's what it's going to have to be.

My isn't going to really have a "fall" theme or anything, but it's in the loft of an old Round Barn, so it will have somewhat of a rustic feel, no matter what.  But, I'm sort of tying in some more formal aspects, as well.  Keith and the groomsment will be in Tuxes and stuff like that.  I want calla lillies and hydrangeas and they will be in large mason jars, for the centerpeices, but they will be dressed up.

My mom and I are doing the bouquets ourselves, and again, I want to use calla lillies.  They'll be fake though, because I want to keep mine, but don't want to pay for it to be freezedried or something.

Here's a photo of my location.  I don't know the person in the photo, it's just one I found online, and it truly is the best one I've seen, to show the look and feel of the place.  It's going to be awesome!
