What the hell is with people lately? Ive read so many posts where instead of giving HELPFUL advice they are just putting down the poster or the question that was being asked. If you dont have anything nice to say, why even take the time to say it. People who come here and ask questions while planning a wedding are stressed enough they dont need other memebers making them feel like their post was "stupid"

This is not high school so stop acting like mean girls.

I actually didnt, nor would i take it into account. I come here for advice, not bashing or BS . but i dont like to read a post and see a bunch of negative stuff. Weddings are exciting times in peoples lives and it needs to stay that way

Do you think you're the first person to say this?  Do you think this post is actually going to change anything?

Look, sometimes things get harsh around here.  I think there are times when it's unnecessarily harsh, but I think there are also times when it's definitely needed.

The basic rule of thumb is to not be an idiot, think of your guests first, and when you post, be sure you want HONEST opinions.  If you don't, don't post it.

Also, you can't change how each person posts, but you can post the way you'd like.  I don't really like snarky for the sake of being snarky so I don't do it.  If you don't want to, then you don't have to either.

OP, if you feel the women here are rude, I recommend using weddingbee.com. In my experience, people on those boards have been much nicer as a whole. Most people here are only trying to be helpful, but there are a few who, in my opinion, come across pretty harsh (haven't experienced it myself, but have read it on some boards). I use/read both boards but find WeddingBee to be a bit more welcoming, especially to new posters.

Sometimes you have to get really blunt with people in order to try to make them see how bad an idea theirs is, or how it really might affect those around them.  Usually the ones who latch onto a really rude idea and defend their right to do it to the death are the ones who are most stubborn about seeing reason, and who come across as really self-centered and snotty.  We return fire with fire in order to try to keep them from making abject fools of themselves, destroying relationships with their friends and family, and ruining their wedding day.  If someone cops an attitude, it's fair game to cop it right back.  Being a bride doesn't give you the right to treat people like crap, but some people really do see it that way.
