Noon wedding-need help figuring out morning plans

We are having our ceremony at noon. I'm staying at a local hotel the night before the wedding with my MOH and one other bridesmaid. The other two couldn't stay at the hotel but are coming to the hotel to get ready. So, I'm just trying to figure out a time line for the morning of.

I'm having two hairstylists to do updos for me, 4 bridesmaids and my mom.
If we got to the church at 11, would that be enough time  for pictures of me and the bridesmaids? I heard guests start arriving 30 minutes before the wedding?

Travel time to the church from hotel is about 20 min.

What time should we start getting ready and everything? What time should we leave the hotel by? It's a big jumbled cloud mess in my mind and I need help sorting through it so I thought I'd ask you all's opinion. Thanks!

  • I would ask your hairstylist what time she wants to start.

  • For pictures with just you and your side of the bridal party 15 minutes should be plenty of time, and yes seating usually starts about half an hour before the ceremony.

Also i have heard to give yourself at least 20 minutes to get in your dress that you are not rushed.

As far as when to leave for the church, if it takes about 20 minutes i could leave about 10:30 that way you can get to the church 10 minutes early so you and your bridesmaids can get organized and put stuff away and fix anything before pictures.

As far as when to start doing your hair, i would give you at least an hour, and the bridesmaids half an hour to 45 minutes, I would start at 8... that will give a little fudge room if someones hair isn't cooperating...

    Hope this helps!

My ceremony is at noon, I expect that guests will start to arrive at 11:30.  We're planning to do all our photos before the ceremony from 11-12, but I'm not particularly concerned about a grand entrance so I don't care that guests will see us.

I'm doing hair & make up at a salon so we'll be getting it done all at the same time and my appointments start at 8am.  I expect to be all styled and made up by 10 (so 2 hours just for me) then will dress at the spa (15-20 minutes) and drive to the venue (25 minutes) so I'll get there about 15-20 minutes before photos begin to allow myself time to relax a bit and allow for traffic.

Have you asked the stylists how long you should allow for each head?  Are you all doing your own make up?  Do any of you have particularly long/thick/curly or otherwise difficult to style hair? Are you doing extensions or anything else that would take extra time?  I have fairly average hair thickness and they've got me scheduled for a full hour with the stylist.  My sister who is getting an updo is scheduled for 30 minutes - they said they allow extra time for the bride in case it doesn't come out right or something.

Anyway - I'm rambling but this is what I think you're probably looking at (I'm assuming you're all doing your own make up since you didn't mention a MUA):

    8:30-9:30 Bride hair
    9:30-10 Mom hair

Thank you so much!!!!!!!! I am undecided about a MUA. It's expensive so I'm pricing them right now. If I did have a MUA I would have her come early too and do my makeup after my hair I guess???

    THANK YOU!

Ask the stylist if she has any experience with MUA - a lot of them do a comprehensive esthetician program and even if she doesn't do it regularly she may be willing to do it with your make up.  Right now you have 1 stylist with only (probably) 90 minutes of work and I'm sure you'll have to pay for a 2 hour minimum - you might be able to work something out.
  • The stylists are actually both friends of mine. The one doing mine and mom's hair is my regular stylist and a close friend. She's doing our hair as my wedding gift. The other is a friend from high school who did all my updos for prom and every dance and is doing all the BMs hair for a really great price.

There is a make up artist who I found but she charges $100, she said she will knock it down to $50 if I get my BMs to get theirs done too, but I'm not sure about her yet... going to keep looking around.
