Half my family decided they aren't coming now...

Hi I am just seeing if I should just do a destination wedding in the Turk & Caicos islands instead of what I have planned for my wedding... I am renting a massive beach house on Emerald Isle NC.  My family still lives in NY and I moved to NC a few years ago.  I just found out from my mother that the only people who are now coming is her, her husband, my aunt, her hubby and my brother... 8 other people decided they want to do another cruise vacation this summer and will not be going now.  I am also very very close with my family...
   I am paying for the house so they do not have to rent a hotel room and all they have to do is get here.  I was also going to pay for food for the week.  I knew if I didn't have a place to stay for them that they would not come.  They aren't coming anyways.  I was doing a wedding for them, I would be perfectly fine going to the carribean and saving myself a ton of money.. What do you guys think?

Either way is fine, you should do what you and your FI prefer.

You're getting some of this information second hand.  Are you 100% sure that your mom is right and they're definitely not coming, or is this cruise an idea that is merely being tossed out there at this point?

You can decide what kind of wedding you want.  If you are very, very close to your family, I'd think they'd make the effort to attend your wedding.

And what about your FI?  It's his weeinng and his family as well.  Are they okay with perhaps not be able to attend the wedding?  A DW is very expensive for guests.  IS his family okay with that?  You didn't really mention your FILs at all~it was only about you and your family.  I think you need to take that into consideration as well.

Perhaps your family doesn't want to attend, but that doesn't mean that you should cut out his family as well.

If your family were actually planning to attend... II'd say NC because some people just can't afford to travel. But if the same people are on your list for both options.. Go with the one you guys want most.

   Yea my fiance's family (he has 6 siblings),  most of them did a las vegas or justice of the peace thing, but they said they don't care either way, whatever we want to do.  If we were to do the destination thing we will pay for my parents and his parents to come down..
    I talked with a few people in my family,and they definately aren't going to make it, money issues they are saying..I gave them 2 year's notice...  I did tell them that I am paying for the house, food for the week, all they have to do is get here.  But I guess they don't care..
     I decided to do the NC beach house still because I already have everything planned out... Just going to kind've feel like a loser in front of his family that day because there are only going to be 5 people on my side there... oh well.. it's about us right? Just bummed ya know?
