Baskets....

Just curious if it is really popular to put a basket in all the rooms at the hotel that people are staying in? I have seen a couple posts, but dont know how expensive that gets or whatnot. I think it is a really cute idea, for the middle of the night when you wake up and NEED that bottle of water, and don't want to pay 1.50..any suggestions or comments would be great!
thanks :)

Re: Baskets....

  • We did this. We just bought cute bags and tied them shut with ribbon.
    Inside we had:

Water, local sodas (we had a lot of northerners come down that weren't used to southern sodas) - cheerwine - , some crackers, pretzels, homemade cookies, granola bar and a few other small snack things. We also added a thank you card for coming and put directions in with the card to the location of the ceremony/reception venue.

All of our guests loved it and I believe it cost all of like 50 bucks to make 15 bags? It may have even been less. We got a few of the items at BJ's and Sam's club.

  • They are not necessary but nice. It's just one more thing the wedding industry has managed to convince brides they need to do for their guests.

I'm pretty sure all hotel rooms have little glasses and taps in the bathroom - voila! Water.

  • oh duh! i didnt even think about buying in bulk at sam's or whatever! little slow this morning :) and, by doing bags you dont have to purchase baskets or whatever that would be a "waste"
    thanks for your input!

This sounds like your best bet.  <div>

  • We are doing bags for our guests at check-in since most of my FI's family will be staying overnight. Red is one of our colors and we were able to get really cute red bags on clearance after Christmas along with tissue paper. They're not at all Christmasy but I guess since they were red, they had to go with the holiday clearance! We are planning on doing 2 bottles of water, a map, a few little snack bags, like pretzels, gum and some wedding themed cookies from a local bakery.
