Re: Cone of shame

  • Awe. Poor bebe. Love the name, by the way.
  • Oh my God, her face!

    Hahahaha, adorable.
  • How did Soma earn her cone of shame?

  • Soma is the biggest lovebug in the kitty universe, but unfortunately she has a fatal attraction to eating small objects.  The vet had to do surgery to get an earplug out of her stomach.  We try very hard to keep the floor clear of items, but she's very determined to have her version of 'junk food'.

Right now she's doing everything in her power to occupy my lap.  My poor husband feels slighted, but I told him that it's only natural to go to mommy when you don't feel good. :P

  • Aww, poor Soma! How lucky you are to have such a lovebug kitty. I'm praying our next kitty will be like that. Our Graycie only wants lovin on her terms.

  • When my super hyperactive border collie mix had to get stitches, he started using his cone of shame as a jousting tool to entice us to wrestle with him. I hated that freaking cone of shame. It wasn't really a cone of shame, though, it was a cone of sparring.
  • Aw!  My dog is also currently in the cone of shame - he cut his paw and won't leave the darn thing alone to heal.
  • Poor baby. I hope she gets better soon.

  • Thanks for the well wishes everyone, I'll pass them along to Soma.  She's doing better this morning, but still sticks to me like glue.  I can't walk anywhere in the house without a silly cone-head getting underfoot.

And thanks for the name compliment, Warpedredpenguin!  In Hindi, it means 'moonlight'.  Her identical twin sister is Rashmi - "ray of sunshine' because she has a little orange stripe on her head.  My third cat is named Maya, which, from the way she acts, I'm sure translates to 'dumb cat'.

  • Poor kitty. That must have hurt going down. Soma looks like a Russian Blue. She's beautiful, even in a clown collar.

Aww. She's cute! If she's really really hating the cone, they also make these inflatable inner-tube type donut looking things that serve the same purpose. I know they make them for cats too. I have an American Bulldog and her neck is 26 inches around but her schnoz is only like 2 inches long, so her cone was GIGANTIC and we have a tiny apartment. Edna was all drugged up from her surgery and she'd run into a wall and freak out. She couldn't eat or drink with it on or anything. The innertube thing was MUCH better for all of us. She even used it as a pillow. Just a thought...

    So sorry for your kitty!!
